Hi Gail, I had my surgery 9/28 - a little over 6 weeks ago.  I have been having whole wheat toast on occassion.  My NUT said to wait until 3 months out for whole wheat pasta and brown rice because it swells inside your stomach.  However, I have been having soup with rice or noodles in it.  So far no problems!   Kendra

Hey Gail I have been doing wheat bread but not like the 12 or 15 grain bread cause of the seed.  I was told to wait about 3 months to try something like that. Hugs Kristen

Hi Gail, I found whole wheat tortillas at Giant that I use for Chicken Quesadillas

A kinda tongue in cheek, yet serious question... did you guys get told by Sloan that you weren't supposed to have any bread products for the first 6 months? She told us that yesterday, and I wasn't totally panic stricken, but I was a little put off by it. I'm not a huge bread eater anyhow, but come on 6 months without a single bread product?? I'm glad to hear that you've had success with whole wheat tortillas. I'm not looking to try it the first week, but thinking that 6 months is an unrealistic time to expect someone to not have any bread products.
Hugs!

Yes Kathy I was told six months:  at four months out I tried Wheat bread ( toasted) : It stays down well:  white bread toasted or not does not go down well:  I have peanut butter on my wheat toast to get protein in =). Pasta does not cause any trouble for me   in fact my friend at work made me some stuffed shells instead of a birthday cake.  I posted some pics on my profile of my birthday outfit:  Its like the first time I got really dressed up since surgury:  As you can see the  outfit is a bit big on me now =). So far I've been doing pretty good w/the no bread/pasta/rice thing.  I'm 4 months post op today, and I have to admit, I want that stuff all the time,  but I figure I've made it this far, I can last for 2 more months.  Darla, the wheat toast w/peanut butter sounds really good.  That might be what I try first!

LOL...this looks to be another "personal" thing.   I have tried breads about every month since I was about 2 months out.   Everytime I do, they sit horribly.   So much so that it takes another month for me to get up the nerve to try them again.    At this point I really have not had bread for about 8 months and am getting used to it.   I might just give them up all together.    Interesting thing though...breads sit poorly...but crakers seem to be fine.   I have even tried toasting the bread with no luck.   Oh well...there is always next month! :-)

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.
