Sinai Docs

Hi. I am in the beginning process of this journey. I have been researching, reading posts on various lists, etc since June.  I filled out a packet and attended orientation at Sinai in August, but I have not heard back from them. When I called the office (three times since Sept.) they say that they have to find the file, they have to check the insurance info, so-and-so is out of the office now, etc.   I'm wondering if there are any other Sinai alumni and if so what your experiences with the procedural stuff has been. I've heard and read plenty of positive feedback about the docs and other personnel once the process is underway, but this has been very frustrating. I'm thinking about switching gears and looking into Hopkins. Thanks in advance for your help. Raizie

I say go for Sinai!  Bare with the office right now they are making some changes and things are a little nut but getting back on track.  Call Sarah and speak with her, maybe she can help you at first.  I had a really good experience with Sinai and so did my two sisters.  I loved Dr. Gandsas's numbers, he has really good stats.  He has the best beside manor and he is top notch with all his patients.  He takes every patient very personal and he works 24/7.  I feel for his family somedays.  Don't give up just keep calling, I promise or I will go and answer Dr. G phones. I don't have personal experience with them, but have 2 co-workers who highly recommended Dr. Li. I talked to one of the girls just yesterday, and she just passed over her 100 pound loss milestone (her surgery was this past April). She said that she feels great, and everyone is noticing more energy, more confidence, etc. She has no regrets, except that she didn't do it sooner. If you truly feel that isn't for you, I highly recommend the GBMC program. You can't help but feel confident in either surgeon after you attend their info session. They too are working out kinks in their front office, but the clinical staff are top notch, and you will feel very well cared for with them.
Hugs!

Hi Raizie, I am also a Sinai alum and agree with Kristen to talk to Sarah or Cheryl.  Once you get in there things move very quickly!!  I also had Dr. Gandsas and have been very pleased with him and the office staff.  Good luck to you! Kendra
