Hi girlie!!! I know there are folks who have had their surgery at GW but right off the top of my head I can't remember who.   Just remember no matter who pushes what .. the surgery is YOUR decision and you need to be comfortable with your choice of doctors. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I know a friend of mine is considering to do RNY with Dr. Afram in there, I have heard great things about him, I don't know if this helps you or not. Ellie

Dr. Lin is also an excellent surgeon.  He did my shrink's husband's cancer surgery there, but he does RNY's, too.  Edie

I had my surgery there with Dr.Lee and would reccommend the hospital and my surgeon to everyone. Dr. Lee has been wonderful every step of the way and the hospital staff were exceptional and very knowledgable about the surgery. If you have any more questions feel free to email me.

Hi There, I had my surgery at GW with Dr. Afram and Dr. Philips. Dr. Afram's office is right around the corner form the hospital, Center for Obesity. Dr. A is  the Clinical Director of the Bariatric Surgery program at GW, it is a center of Excellence. I started out by attending a Saturday seminar, where he explained the different types of procedures and answered any questions. The same day I met with the office staff, whom is excellent, they went over my insurance and told me exactly what it would cost and the qualifications needed.  I had researched WLS with two other Dr.'s prior to finding Dr. A. After I left the seminar that Sat. my mind was made up. As far as the hospital stay, it is a nice hospital because they have a wing dedicated to WLS patients. It is give or take on the nurses. I personally had a great nursing stafff the entire 3 days :~) I've heard others that haven't :~( Ultimatley it all comes down to personal preference. The other two Dr.s I interviewed were also good, but I thought the center would provide the long term care I needed.  Hope this helps, if you need more info send me a PM.  Christina
