Help.  My face is flaming.    I am 7+ weeks out from RNY.  From the beginning of my post op period the left side of my face has been reddish and irritated.  Today I woke up to find my checks swollen and bright-bright red.  They feel like they are on fire. Anyone else have this problem?

Did you call the doctor? I haven't heard of this type of reaction before.

This really sounds like something to check with your PCP about.  It may not be related to your WLS at all, but sounds serious and you need medical attention. Hope you get some relief soon. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi April I had this same reaction plenty of times.  I had a lot of redness and breakouts too in between those episodes.  I finally made a consultation with a dematalogist and I was diagnosed with Rosacea.  It was after having my RNY she had prescribed a pill but my surgeon says it will not work since we don't absorb the medicine because it is time release.    I was given a medicine called metrogel 1% by prescription and I was told to buy cetaphil gentle skin cleaser to clean my face always. Do not use soap. Also all the Eucerine products lik e moisterizer and stuff I was told to buy.   For now you should see the dermatologist or pcp so they can help you feel better.  I know exactly what you are going through. I hope you feel better soon.   By the way cool papr towels or wash cloths on your face helps with the burning. Take care

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Yes.  See a dermatologist.  Rosacea can be controlled with a cheap anti-inflammatory prescription gel!  Mine is 100% better since starting to use it. Edie

Thanks everyone.  I guess I'll be making a trip to the dermatologist sooner than later.  I guess I wanted a different answer (like a kid!, if you don't like the answer, go ask Dad). Hope everyone is well.
