GBMC
I met the operating staff at the support group I attended. I think if they can they also come to the class you are required to take just before surgery. I loved GBMC. I did have some issues with the night nurse, but I understand they weren't regular staff. You can have someone stay with you as well.
Of all the hospitals I have had a stay in the Baltimore area, Hopkins is the only one I wouldn't go back to unless I had a strange illness.

Your concerns are absolutely valid. I am not sure if GBMC does tours or not but having my surgery there, the nurses are great. They were always so pleasant and have a great understanding of the bariatric surgery. If you communicate the issues with the anestesiologist when he comes to talk to you, he will take care of you. I believe Dr Roe requests the same in surgery room team so if you have the same guy anestesiologist, he is great, funny and really puts you at ease before you go into the room. Dr. Roe requests private rooms for his patients (at least he did 2 years ago). Rest assured they will take great care of you.
