GBMC

I met the operating staff at the support group I attended. I think if they can they also come to the class you are required to take just before surgery. I loved GBMC. I did have some issues with the night nurse, but I understand they weren't regular staff. You can have someone stay with you as well.  Of all the hospitals I have had a stay in the Baltimore area, Hopkins is the only one I wouldn't go back to unless I had a strange illness.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling less anxious about it today. I see the DR next week so I will get on top of the medical records for that meeting. One more question- Do they let your kids visit you?

Your concerns are absolutely valid. I am not sure if GBMC does tours or not but having my surgery there, the nurses are great. They were always so pleasant and have a great understanding of the bariatric surgery. If you communicate the issues with the anestesiologist when he comes to talk to you, he will take care of you. I believe Dr Roe requests the same in surgery room team so if you have the same guy anestesiologist, he is great, funny and really puts you at ease before you go into the room. Dr. Roe requests private rooms for his patients (at least he did 2 years ago). Rest assured they will take great care of you.

D I know your gonna do fine!! I was really nervous up until the day of surgery and I was surprisingly calm. My surgeon makes all her patients WALK into the OR and that walk down that hallway seemed like it took forever and ever but man it was the best walk I've ever taken.

Well considering my "white coat syndrome" they better have a straight jacket and lots of help there if I am supposed to "walk" down to the OR! They are gonna have to drug me up in pre-op.
