Need recommendation for PCP
Haven't posted on the Maryland message board before this. I've mostly been on the DS message board because that's the surgery I have been interested in. Dr. Schweitzer has agreed to do DS for me. I'm awaiting insurance approval.
I'm thinking of finding a new PCP. The pcp I've used for the last 5 or 6 years is a doll. But he's not very proactive. If I suggest something he goes along with it. I'm pretty sure he's not up on WLS in general, much less the DS.
Anybody out there have a pcp they absolutely adore? One who is supportive of WLS and knowlegable. Or one who is willing to learn?
I live in the Bel Air area but am willing to travel to Baltimore, Towson, etc. for the right doctor.
Also, what about an endo?
Thanks in advance,
Sue

Both Johns Hopkins and UMd. have community practice primary care facilities in several locations. I use JHU community practice at Odenton for my GYN and UMd. in Millersville for my PCP and a couple of specialists and have been very happy with them. You might check the websites for both medical systems for locations. I know JHU has one in Greenspring (doh!), which may not be too much of a haul for you. This may just be my bias, but I think a university-affiliated doctor is more likely to be up on the latest things.
Hi Sue! My PCP is in Bel Air - she is wonderful and has been incredibly supportive of the DS (I had it with Dr. S too!). She isn't too knowledgeable about it (I've taught her everything she knows - teehee) but she IS supportive and I LOVE her. PM me if you'd like to get her number! Talk to you soon! Dawn
