Hi everyone: I got new glasses a week after rny:  I have lost about 80 Lbs and wonder if anyone else has noticed that their eyesight changes after losing weight:  I had wanted to get lhe lasik done about a year ago but they advised against it at that time since I was thinking about WLS. Just wondering:::

The only change I noticed was that my glasses didn't dig into the sides of my head any more!!!   I've worn glasses since I was 8 years old, so I think I'm beyond seeing any major changes after almost 50 years .   I've had several friends who have ended up with cataract surgery in their 50's though, so not knowing your age, you might want to have that possibility checked out. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi Darla!  WOW...80 lbs...that's great!!! Are you saying that your sight is better or worse than before wls?

80 lbs is great!! Hmmm, I never thought about it that but it makes sense.  The size and shape of our heads change as we lose weight and it probably does affect our vision.  I had an eye appointment just before my surgery and went and picked up new glasses about one week after my surgery.  I wonder if I need another examination now??

I was curious about the eye sight change. Is your eyes better or worse. I had lasik surgery a year ago nov 11. So I was wondering once I have the RNY if that will change my sight or not.

Also I must say that if you can do the lasik. I must say that it was the best thing that I ever did for myself thus far. I think the RNY will top the lasik though. I went through TLC and will highly recommend them to anyone.

My vision changed after I lost a great deal of weight.....around 120 lbs.   I wear contact lenses, and my eye doctor said that my sight hadn't actually changed, but that my base curve had changed, so my lenses no longer fit my eye properly.  She said it happens with weight loss, and that I may need to change lenses again before I'm finished losing.  So, I guess the short answer to your question is, Yes, it happens.
