I am so sorry she isn't doing well. I hope that she is feeling better each day so that her band doesn't have to be removed. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Kristen, I am sorry she is going through this. I was going to suggest VSG like everyone else since I am looking into it myself as well. How about VBG? (it is vartical band) does insurance coever that? We have Eric on Maryland board who has done it and says many great things about it,  Ellie

Your sister was banded 6 days ago correct?  Did Dr. Li put ANY fluid into the band during surgery?  This sounds like symptoms of someone with an OVER fill.  Most surgeons put NO fluid in the band until about 6 weeks post op.  If there is any fluid in her band Dr. Li needs to remove it all, but she should know that.  Does she get fluid in and it is coming back up or does she just feel so bad that she won't get any in?

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

No fluid in the band.  She called the office today and wanted to go back to the ER or get admin. but they would not.  Told her she needs to "GULP" every 5 mins and they would talk to her tomorrow.  Tomorrow will be day eight and one week since surgery.  She is going through some hell.  I don't know what else I can do but feel really back about it.  There has to be a end insight. Hugs Kristen Thanks again for all your well wishes.

I'm sorry to hear about this too.  Can I assume she is dehydrated?

I am sorry that your sister is not doing much better.  I hope they figure out something.  It seems as if she has a lot of swelling around the band, which gives the effect of a tight fill.  I have seen on  YouTube some band removals and replaced with mini by-pass.  I would think that they would have to do something, considering when the band is put in place, the stomach is wrapped around to secure the band in place.  After her surgery did she get an X-ray to make sure that the fluid was going through the band properly?  No real suggestions at this point, sorry, I guess just keep in close contact with the doctors.  I hope an pray that things get better.
