Carbs - How Many Per Day?

Does anyone have a number for the total daily carbs?  I'm almost 6 weeks post-op and have really slowed down on the weight loss.  My NUT said no food should be over 20 carbs.  So I'm looking at carbs for the normal serving.  Under 20 carbs ok, because I'm getting much less.  But, when I look at my intake for a day, say Thursday, I had a total of 47 carbs.  I remember being on low carb diets in the past that were much more restrictive.  Maybe I shouldn't be so concered because we don't absorb much after RNY. OK, I'm rambling!  But I want to maxamize my results during this Honeymoon period. Thanks for listening.

Hi April. I had the DS and the general consensus to get the most out of that surgery is to keep your intake of carbs as low as possible. I eat no carbs unless they are in my protein drinks or other protein foods. I try to stay under 20 a day and many time I am able to be under 15 with an occassional blip to 30. Because my nut wants me to take in 123 grams of protein I  ususally had not had much room for anything else. However, recently I have had the worse craving for spinach. However a 6 ounce package has only 4 carbs and 2 fiber so it is not bad. I am not sure these numbers would work for the RNY so please wait to hear from others.

Hi back to you Jo, I haven't really been watching the carbs as closely as I would think I should.  Right after surgery I was told not to worry about anything but protein and sugar.  I'm supposed to take in 80-90 protein grams per day. Just found out I've messed that up too.  The Unjury Vanilla and Chocolate Protein that I hve been using did not have scoops in the containers.  Dummy here did not equate volume with weight, so I was using approx. 1 oz of powder at a time rather than 1/4 cup for each serving.  Something told me this was wrong.  The customer service rep at Unjury set me straight and is sending me a couple of scoops. Thanks for answering me.  I am going to pay more attention here.

I don't count my carbs. I make sure I get plenty of protein and count the sugars in each item I eat. I keep my sugars to as near 5 per serving as possible. Someitems may go up to 7 or 8, but rarely do I eat something like that.

Aime, Thanks for the input.  I'll find my zone with all of this yet. Are you feeling ok? Take care.

Like Aime, i don't really count carbs because I don't eat any.  My portions are so small at this point that I eat protein only.  I'd probably be in keytosis except for the fact that I drink 40+ ounces of skim milk each day for the protein and my liquids requirement.  Unfortunately, it also has lots of carbs.
