is there anything else that I should stock up on pre-surgery? My husband, I do love him with all my heart, but really won't go to the stores. He hates it. So I would like to get as much stuff done ahead of time.  I am sorry about all the questions, I am just a super control freak, and everything has got to be just right. Thanks for the help.

Chap Stick and body lotion.  You will be dry.  childrens liquid motrin incase of fever or pain.  bandaids,  water, 100% juice if needed, sugar free popcicles, PROTEIN, sugar free Jello and pudding.  I will add if I can think of anything else and I am sure there is. HUGS KRISTEN I am so excited for you!

I have a silly question about the liquid meds, like Motrin and Claritin.  There is no difference in the strength of the meds right? Just in the dosage? So 10 mg of Children's Claritin in liquid is the same as 10mg in tablet form? I was going to stock up on those things, but wanted to make sure I could get the same dosage of the meds. I've worked in the medical field, but when you are the patient, it seems so different.

Hey Dee - Your hubby's in luck - I LOVE to go to the stores!!!  And I live right around the corner from you.  I'll pm you with my cell number.  Your hubby can call it once you're out of surgery and I'll post a message on here for you.  Kristen made good suggestions, but my only other is that you not stock up on TOO much protein - shakes, powders, etc., because a lot of us find that our tastes and sense of smell changes and what we liked pre-op, we can't "stomach" post-op! Don't forget the broths, too, for when you're on clear liquids.  And Crystal Light or the Walmart brand, which I prefer.   Hang in there - it's kind of like Christmas in Whoville - no matter what, it'll still happen!!! I've been stocking up on the sugar free flavoraid. Those little tubes that you freeze. Many stores don't stock as much in the winter, so I figured I would be ready. I don't have a lot of freezer space, so it will help that I can freeze just a few at a time. I also figured I would stock up on broth, and clear soup. I have a roommate that will go to the store anytime I need, so I am very lucky in that regard.  But, I have double closets in my room, and one closet will be just about full by the time my surgery date comes, lol.
Hugs!

I recommend SF/FF popsicles and fudgesicles.  They count as liquids, not food.  After my surgery, I found that the colder something was, the better.  For the latter, if you can find the Shur Fine brand, they even have 2 grams of protein...  And you can't beat that with a stick! I still chow down on them!! --Eric

I think everyone has pretty much covered everything you will need. Just a note. Dr Roe is going to tell you to make sure you take the Protinex.    Get the stuff he has in the Purple bottle (LiquaCel-Grape flavor)  That stuff tastes pretty good, like a grape dimatap but thicker.
