Hi all, I tried to post earlier and don't know what the heck happended to it... Okay here's my dealio, had Lapband surgery last Tuesday. Felt really good in the hosptial. Got home and feel like crap. I have been nauseaous (sp?) and light headed. Talk to my Dr on Sunday cuz I just couldn't handle it anymore. He figured maybe I was not getting enough protein, nutrients in and so he gave me the go ahead to move to mushies. So I did and pretty much nothing has changed. I am diligent about getting protien in, such that I had turkey from the deli and just chewed for ever. I am not having any problem with getting stuff down , no vomiting or anhything like that. Has anyone else expreienced this?? It seems like most folks are up and running.  Also I have a terrible pain under my right breast bone such that sitting hurts and forget about bending over.  I called the Dr today ( Of course I feel like the biggest baby ever and that they are probably sorry they ever met me) he basically was very casual and said oh your body is just healing.  So naturally this did not give me any comfort so I hope some of you more experienced banders offer some support.  I feel so damn helpless, this stinks. thank you for listening and please reply. ~Kim

My band (VBG w/Sleeve) is different from yours but it is a band nonetheless.  I was a bit nauseous the first couple days too but not nearly to the extent you are describing.  Like some other people, I don't think I was tolerating water very well.  Plus there's the pain and other meds to contend with.  Crushing the Urso Forte pills and mixing them with liquids made me gag.  I got over it pretty quickly, though.  I also quit taking the Urso Forte until I could cut them in half and swallow them. You doc is right about your body healing so I might give it another day or two.  After that, if you're still feeling that bad, I'd be standing in front of my doc asking him to do something for me.  -- Just my admittedly uneducated opinion.

I had RNY so I can not speak to the band experience.  However, I had a very difficult time in the beginning and was very easily dehydrated.  That will cause dizziness and light headedness and even nausea and upset stomach.  Make sure you are getting in enough fluids!  It's difficult but extremely important.  Do you have a drain tube?  If so, that can also cause discomfort.  Mine was a real pain just under my ribs into my back.  Once that was gone that pain went away.  Your body is also adjusting to lack of food/nutrition.  Even though you are getting enough protein, your body is used to getting so much more.  It can take time for the adjustment.  It does get better, faster for some than others.  I didn't feel human again until about 2 1/2 months out.  I pray that you don't feel this bad for that long.   Hugs, Robin

I'm a week ahead of you on the band.  At my doctor's recommendation, I take an OTC Pepcid a couple of times a day and it's really helped my stomach feel more normal.  The pills are tiny, so they won't get stuck.   FWIW, I am only now starting to feel my energy come back.  Take it as easy as you can, get that protein and water in, and you'll be feeling better in a few days.  I promise!
