Are you happy with your lap band

I am considering the lap band over the Rny and I want to know if you are happy with your band.  If so please state why and if you are not happy please say why.  Also, do you have any regrets with not going with an RNY?

Post this to the lap band forum.  You'll find a lot of people who've been very successful and had their own reasons for choosing the band. The decision is very personal to what your eating issues are, what your medical issues are, what your tolerance for risk is, etc. I went with the band because I'm less of a person who craves specific things than a person who just wants a full tummy and can't get one without eating too much.  In other words, my best food fantasies often involve red meat (particularly prime rib) and green vegetables, and pushing away from the table is hard for me.  I have a lot of co-morbs, but all are controlled, so I don't need the faster loss I'd get with a malabsorptive surgery.  I was concerned about the long-term effect of malabsorption on my body, since one grandmother had osteoporosis.  I also know that once I get a goal in my head, nothing stops me from meeting it.  Very important trait for a bandster.  I think you just have to think about your life and your body and figure out which surgery fits you best, with the help of a physiican, of course.

Hi. You might also want to visit the VSG forum. The vertical sleeve gastrectomy forum. It is the surgery that reduces your stomach size without the need for a band similar to RNY and DS but does not have the malabsorption of either the RNY and DS. It is just like Edie says, we all eventually make the best choice for our own needs and lifestyles. I choose BPD/DS which is not something a lot of people do but with a BMI of over 66 I needed both the restricted stomach and the most malabsorption I could get if I ever plan on getting down even close to a normal BMI. Good luck to you in whatever you choose. Jo
