Book suggestions for pre and post op

Hi! Does anyone have a particular book or two that helped them pre and or post op? Has anyone read and used "The Emotional First+ Aid Kit" by Cynthia L. Alexander?  It came highly recommended on Amazon, but in flipping through it, I'm not impressed.  I have read, and got a lot out of "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies".  I got an Amazon gift certificate for my birthday last month, and before I start looking for the fun stuff, I figured I would look for reading that might help me through the toughest parts right before and right after surgery. Hope everyone had a great weekend!  I cleaned!  Very much needed. Kristen, best of luck with your procedure tomorrow. I hope this gets you over the tough part and on to lots of losing, and feeling great. Edie, best wishes for your surgery on Tuesday. May it be uneventful, and your recovery swift! Hope I didn't miss anyone else.
Hugs!

Hi Kathy, my girlfriend had the lap band surgery 2 days after my DS and we have been reading some books. Eventho the surgeries are different the head jouneys are much the same. We have read the dummy book which I thought had excellent recipes in it. We also read the one that Khaliah Ali wrote about her lap band experience. Eventhough it was very different from my surgery it was extremely helpful. We have also read Carnie Wilson's book and they have been good reads as well. And we also got Carnie's cook book that I am just getting ready to look at.  Both these women are really honest about their feelings and struggles and it was thought provoking to read them. Also wishing Kristen good luck and a perfect out come tomorrow and Edie here hoping all is well for your surgery with Dr. S. Tell him we all say hi!!

Hi Jo!  Khaliah and Carnie's books were both on my list as well, so I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed them.  Thanks!

I don't have any books to suggest.  But I wanted to check on you and find out if you found out anything yet? I am dying to know and I know you must be super anxious too. Hugs,

Hi Cira! Well... they had to refax it last Thursday. Somehow it never made it to Aetna. Then, only the pre-cert made it, none of the documentation made it. Now, the documentation made it too, but it is still pending.  So, I should hear today or tomorrow. Frustrating! Especially for someone who is as impatient as myself. I guess it will take almost 3 weeks to hear.  I'm very glad that everyone encouraged me to contact the doc's office, since they were saying they sent it, and Aetna saying they didn't receive it. Thanks so much for asking!  You guys WILL be the first to know!
Hugs!
