Happy Friday Eve!!

Hey all - Hope everyone is well!  Not too busy here, I really haven't been since June.  I applied for a job within our Department that's much closer to home - 3 miles vs. the 20 that I now drive!!!  Oh, to have a 5 minute drive that's not around the Beltway.  So cross whatever's crossable that I get this job.  The application process closes tomorrow, and I guess they'll start calling in a week or so for interviews.  The good thing is, I worked in this division for 8 years - 12 years ago, so I'm still pretty familiar with it.  It's actually a demotion in title, but given the way the State pay grade works, it would be more $$!  Plus, I'd save hugely on gas!!  Time to get out of Dodge!!  I feel pretty confident in my abilities, but don't want to jinx myself. Happy the puppy is doing well, keeping us entertained by carpet swimming.  She actually loves to do that on top of my down comforter - I think the coolness feels good on her nakey belly!!  She's just like a toddler, I'm constantly having to drag her out from under the bed, and she doesn't calm down to go to sleep until I turn out the lights and shut off the tv.  Then she passes out, taking up 3/4 of my bed!!  But she's a lot of fun.  I took her to the park on Saturday, well, actually, she took me!!  She enjoyed it, but is still very skittish, I guess from her earlier abuse.  We have our first vet appt. tonight, Mom's got to go with me, because even though Happy's foster mom said she liked to ride in cars - she does, but she wants to sit on my lap!!  Kind of hard to drive with 11 pounds of guided missile sitting on you! In case anyone missed it, our October get-together is Sunday, 10/21 at Weber's Farm at 12.  www.webersfarm.com - Hope you all can make it!! What's going on with all of you???? Tia

Hey Tia Still busy here ... I think we are done with the interviews.   We had requested more names and got 4 more added to the original list.   Of those four, 2 interviewed and 2 did not show up for their scheduled appointments.   The first line supervisor and I are pretty much in agreement with the ones we liked and why and who we didn't and why.   I'm letting him take the lead in making the choice, and he's struggling between two of the applicants.   We will sit down this afternoon or tomorrow a.m. and get it worked out so the paperwork part of it will go through next week while I am gone. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you.   Not having to make that commute would do so much for you .. like give you more time to play with Happy Huber .. and you would be so much closer to KB for their various school events.

Mr Mo and I used to have to take Lefty to the vet together so that I could hold him (he just never did get the hang of a carrier).  Now that he's such a geriatric kitty, he can be loose in the vehicle and not get into so much trouble, though when Mr Mo picked him up from kitty sleep away camp, he wanted to ride home in Mr Mo's lap .

I've got Webers Farm penciled in, but that will be right after the latest lithotripsy, so I'm not sure how perky I will feel, plus we have to start getting some stuff done around the house .. we never stay home so the yard is a disaster (and we won't even mention the state of the house .. )

I just have to make it through the rest of today and tomorrow and then it's VACATION time .. yeah .. rah !!!!   I REALLY need this.   Other than an odd day or two (when I've had dr's stuff going on mostly), I've not had any time off since we got back May 30th.   I actually have 124 hours of use or lose projected .. and only plans for 40 of it.   It will roll to disability so I won't complain but .. I REALLY wish I could use at least 1/2 of it.

Hugs, Mo

Hi Moie -  Interviews stink!!  The only good thing is that I'm either friends with or know everyone who will be interviewing me eventually.  I've called in lots of favors and have had some high-ranking friends call on my behalf.  Normally, I wouldn't advocate that, but heck, everyone else does it and once I get a foot back in the door, they'll see that I'm still a good worker.  Oh, yes, to be close to home - Happy would indeed be Happy - she dances now at the end of the day when I get home!  When I took her to the park on Saturday, she wanted to sit up near my shoulder on the drive home!!!  Kinda hard to drive that way, you know???

I hope you can get to Weber's, but please, take care of yourself first.  Either call me or email me to let me know how it goes, okay?

I'm not in a use or lose situation this year, but I do want to take some time off.  I have a huge retirement party coming up for Colonel Hutchins in November at Loews Annapolis Hotel that needs my attention right now, and I'm just so dang tired - physically and emotionally - I just need some Tia time!!  Gary got back on the ot list this quarter, and already, he's working every night until at least 5:30 - makes for long days for everyone!  KB are doing well in school - K more so than B, who, quite simply, doesn't care.  He can do the work, but he's more interested in talking.  Don't know where he gets that!!!

Yes, you DO need this vacay and I hope the weather is good for you!

Have a good day,

Tia & Happy

There comes a point in time when it is handy to know influential people!!!   Use what you've got especially if you are not happy where you are and with what you are doing!!! If you need a photographer for Col Hutchins party ... keep me in mind .. I work REALLY cheap (read that as in feed me .. )  I'd be happy to shoot all the pictures digitally, then you could just have what ever you wanted printed.  Annapolis is a cinch for me .. as long as it's a date I have free. The litho is in two weeks .. when we get back .. I'll be in touch for sure. Hugs, Mo

Thanks, Moie!  We have two staff photogs and I'm sure one of them will be free (as in available - I've got to feed them, too!) Actually, the party is from 12-3, so maybe once I'm done, we can get together.  We'll have to see how crazy I am at that point!!! Yep, call me when you get back.  Happy RV'ing!!!! You know, it's just time to pull out all the stops as far as having people call on my behalf.  At this point, short of begging and other unmentionables, I'm willing to do just about anything to get out of here. Again, depending on the date, I'll skip out of the office at 3 and we can do something down here if you are up for it!   That is reasonably easy for me to do if I don't have a meeting or conference call scheduled. Hugs, Mo P.S.  Lefty's got his stuff almost all packed already .. he doesn't want to run the risk of being left behind.

Tia, there is nothing wrong with calling in favors when it comes to getting the job you want. That is one of the perks of doing a great job, in that you'll have those people to count on when it's time for a potential boss to have to choose between you, and someone equally qualified. Not having to use them often is the key, then you don't have to wear them out. Good luck with the interview process, I hope it works out for you!
Hugs!

Thanks, Kath!!  I've no doubt about my ability to do the job, particularly since I spent 8 years there before, but I confess that I'm uncertain what my former supervisor will say.  She hated me, I hated her, she was very territorial (needlessly, I might add), and very power-hungry.   From your mouth to God's ears!!!  In fact, put in a good word for a decent guy for me, will ya?  The right job AND the right man both seem to be equally elusive these days!!! Hugs, Tia

I'm a day late, but wanted to drop in to say "HI!".  Tia, when did this new puppy enter your life?  Give me the details.  You sound so happy!  Mo, what the most recent RVing trip coming up?  Have fun.  Hubby and I are heading out this PM after work for Ocean City.  They have their car show tomorrow.  He's been wanting to go for years, so this is the year.  My parents are coming from WVA to stay with the kids.  So glad they could do it.  Everyone have a wonderful weekend.  TraciL

P.S.  Tia, good luck on the interview.  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.  695 is the pits!
