It's been a week...
OK, I know I am wrong to be so impatient. But, I called Aetna today to see if anything has been submitted for approval, since my appointment with the surgeon was a week ago on 9-24. They have no record. How long should I wait to check again? I don't want to bother the doc's office just yet, as I know from being there how busy they all are... I just don't want to be waiting too long, and find out they haven't submitted, or Aetna lost. It is important to my mental health to have my surgery this year, and I know they are already scheduling for late November. Again, I know I'm impatient, and I'd love to learn to be more patient someday, but I don't think this is the right time to learn this behavior.
Hugs!

Kathy :
call the Dr's office: To be blunt this office has changed alot over the last few months:
there have been changes and not good ones. They do work for you: call them and ask if they
have a fax confirmation or some kind of proof. I guess you could give them the benefit of doubt
and ask if they have sent it explaining the insurance company has no record of it yet.
They may be able to give you a name of someone at the insurance company.
I learned one thing over the last year: You have to speak up for yourself: noone else
will look after your interest if you don't.
Hi Kathy,
If the insurance has no record then I would definitely be on top of someone in that office. It took 3 days to approve me with Aetna HMO after submitting it.
I agree with Darla you are your own advocate.
Keep us posted.
Hugs,

Thanks everyone for your support of my crazy, impatient self. I did call Rose today (well left a message yesterday too). When she first called back, I could hear the frustration in her voice. I held back, and simply said OK, and let her go. Then, she called back to tell me she had submitted it last Thursday, and had a reference number to back that up. She said she was going to follow up today, since it is their late night. So, even though I don't have an answer from Aetna yet, I'm happy that at least I know the docs office is working on it. If Aetna lost the request, at least they can find out now and get it sent again. I don't know how long Rose would have waited if I didn't call to follow up.
I know they are busy, perhaps too busy for one person (she said she had 50 cases on her desk right now). But, this is my life, and my health I am working with, and as you all said, they are supposed to be working for me.
Thanks for all of your support. This is THE BEST board, and I appreciate you all!
Hugs!
