Hagerstown/Schweitzer?

LOL...I'm trying to cram two questions into one post!  Just wondering if anyone is from the Hagerstown area and if anyone else has used Dr. Schweitzer and what you thought of him.  I am just getting started; paperwork has been mailed off to his office and I'm waiting for a consult date.  Am getting ready to start two three month structured diet programs; three months Weigh****chers and three months at Hopkins Bayview. I'm both excited and scared!

109 pounds gone forever!  46 pounds to go to goal!

Hi Knitter.....

I'm only a short ways away from Hagerstown but i am a Schweitzer patient  almost 8 months post-op.

I liked him.

Question though.....why 2 diet programs? or are you trying 1 for 6 months and then starting somewhere else... I don't think insurance companies would take 2 3 month programs running concurrently as a 6 month diet program. Anyway, ask away with any questions.  Heck, i will even be over that way at the Community college on Saturday if you want to talk. My daughter has an all day baton/poms thing at the gymnasium. BTW Joteddie is from Hagerstown area.  She's also a Schweitzer patient and recent post-op. i know she's usually on the DS board.  ~K

Welcome to the forum. I pass through Hagerstown from time to time. I have a sister that lives there just down the road from the outlets. Aime

LOL...I don't think I explained myself well.  I can either do one six month program or two three month programs.  As the program at Bayview is full until December, I'm going to do WW from Sept-Dec and then start Bayview's program till Februrary.  Heck, i will even be over that way at the Community college on Saturday if you want to talk. I would love to, but I'm already tied up this weekend.  Would love to another time though!

Schweitzer is excellent, and so is his staff. I had excellent care at Bayview too (YMMV). He's an expert in all the surgeries and does them laproscopically. I was all healed up in two weeks, back to work in three. Good luck, N.

Hey girl, I live in Cumberland and Dr. Schweitzer was my surgeon. He is top notch. I went through the DS with a 2 nite stay and no complications. You are making an excellent choice in surgeons. Good luck. Jo

I would reccomend Dr. Schweitzer he is a fantastic surgeon. I did a lot of research and he by far had the best record and experience.  I had lap RNY and so far so good with any post surgery issues.  The Dr's medical staff is the best! The Bayview nurses were top notch and very helpful. His office staff, not so good.  I had to fax and refax, call and call back on many issues. They did not really help with the approval process. I think they were in the process of moving offices so that could be it. He is well worth the drive! Good luck on your journey. Melanie

I can't give enough praise to Dr. S. Heis one of the best. I researched for over two years before I made my decision to have RNY. I went with Dr. S and have absolutely no regrets!! I was only in the hospital one night and have not had any complications (knock on wood). I have yet to toss my cookies even once. I have complete trust in him and his abilities. You should feel very comfortable with your decision. If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact me. ~~ Trish

I had my surgery with Dr S 10 months ago, and I agree, he is a wonderful doctor and has a great reputation.  That's why I chose him.  He is very caring and kind and has always had time for me.  Now that my 1 year check up is coming, I will miss him.  By the way, I have lost 92 pounds and gone from a size 18 to a size 6/8.  WLS is a blessing!!!!
