Would you still work?
If you suddenly won the lottery for several million dollars or you suddenly inherited some money, would you still work? I have had this conversation with some of my friends and I am like this with it, if I had several million dollars at my disposal I sure as hell would not work. The majority of them were like no I would still work or do somehting because I would not want to be at home doing nothing. What? Be at home doing nothing, are you crazy, you have 20 million dollars at your disposal, who would be home? I would be calling them from some sort of carribean island on my private yacht sippiing a pina colada out of a pineapple. So would you or would you not work?
It would be no more work for me or maybe at least a year. I would find myself on some beach for at least a month and no phone calls. Then I would shop and I can shop ask my husband. So yeah I might have to go back to work cause I would shop my butt off. Oh I guess I better buy a house and Gabby wants a Dog.
This is always an interesting question with a lot of different answers. I would like to think that I would take time off, travel to all the places I have ever wanted to go, take care of college education, stuff like that and then maybe I would start my own business or go to work doing something I love but which probably wouldn't pay me much. I would explore some interests and maybe even get some school finished. I would not rush back to work thats for sure.
Life is great! Learn to love, laugh and have fun everyday; for each day is a gift from God!!!

I would not work anymore. After all, I would not need money. If I needed to do something it would be to volunteer in a hospital or something. I always thought about volunteering in the neonatal dept, rocking the little babies and talking to them. I just might do that someday...even if I never win any money.
I would also buy a vacation home on the beach.

Well, since I'm a State employee who currently HATES/LOATHES/DETESTS my job, and most high-dollar lottery winners are shown on tv with the Governor, I would have the supreme pleasure of telling my "boss" I quit!!! Life's too short to work at a job you hate, I would volunteer at my niece and nephew's school, kind of be the room "aunt," travel, open a tea room, continue my education, play with the new doggie, take my parents on a cruise, help out my immediate family. Oh, I could think of a million ways to avoid work!!!!

I am self-employed, and I would still definitely quit work! I think I could find something to do all day long besides work. If I got so bored out of my mind and managed to have done everything I have ever thought about doing. . . . .maybe then I would volunteer somewhere. BUT WORK AGAIN? Let's be real. . . . no way!!
Well I LOVE my job! I am a preschool teacher. I have a great group of kids. I think I would finish this year. And then I would really have to think hard about it. Maybe be a substitute or something. I would love to have that kind if money to help my church finish our building, and then of course put money aside for each of my kids. I would buy a BIGGER house and give mine to my in-laws. They love our house. I would buy a house for my brother. And then I would just live life. A much more relaxed, less stressful life that is!

Well, I too love my job and right now I am having the opportunity to do a once in a life time project-I am the executive in charge of transitioning two existing hospitals into one that is going to be completed in 2009. I just can't imagine not finishing that. I think I would feel incomplete if I didn't do this and stay a while as well. However, I would certainly have all bills paid off and homes purchased and trust funds set up for all family members. I would purchase a home that I have been craving here in Cumberland as well as down the ocean hun. And I would have a housekeeper, a cook, driver and personal trainer. I would want my husband to quit work immediately so we could be together more. I would purchase a time share on a jet so I could visit my son in Hibbing MN any time I wanted and my brother and SIL in San Diego. I would go on fabulos vacations and do all the traveling I wanted during my vacation. I would retire early too. Not that I have given any of this much thought. LOL
The tax rate on lottery winnings is about 48% so only count on getting half of what you win. I don't think several million is going to let you retire. Think about it, even a run down house in a half way nice neighborhood will cost you $500K+. Twenty million (really $10) might be a different ballgame. Invested wisely, I think you could probably live off the dividends and interest.
