I can feel your pain. I LOVE PIZZA!  During my recovery time I could barely watch tv without crying at pizza commercials. Just remember, Nothing taste as good as skinny feels!! Good Luck on your journey. Melanie Lap RNY 8/30/07 Down 25lb's

UGH, Gina it's not even worth the torture.  Change the channel or walk away.  The calories are horrible and the grease is nasty.  It's okay, I'm just bitter because I can't eat it anymore! hehehe  My tummy can't handle even thin crispy stuff, but I don't even miss it because it just makes me miserable trying to eat it.  I have learned to enjoy what I can tolerate and avoid what I can't.  It's all hit or miss. You'll find things you can have that you might think you wouldn't be able to.  My hubby (also banded) can eat pizza, but I can't.  We're all different.  Good luck!

Girl, the tv is AWFUL. I never realized how many commercials were about food. In several months we can play around and try to make soem healthy pizza. I'm sure there is some creative way. I cried because I wanted chocolate. It sounds so pathetic to type, but it was true. It's an addiction and now we have a tool to to help us make the right decisions.

Gina, I don't think your new pouch is quite ready for this, but I got a recipe from one of my RNY buddies Jandell for making a meat crust pizza. Here is the recipe- Meat crust pizza is just like regular pizza except for the crust. Top the pizza with high protein foods for extra nutritional kick :) Crust Ingredients: Sorta like a meatloaf recipe 2 cups raw extra lean ground beef 4 eggs, beaten 20 whole wheat crackers (crush them in the blender or processor) chopped garlic to taste Salt and pepper as desired Mix this to a paste consistency and pat tightly into a 15 x 10" baking pan. The crust should be very thin. Pat it as tightly as you can to keep it from shrinking in the oven, if you use less than extra lean ground it will likely shrink some. Bake this in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until brown.  Take out and top with a jar of marinara sauce and whatever pizza toppings you like (We like bell peppers and onions). Then add lots of low fat mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake again (or broil) for 10 minutes, or until toppings are to your liking :) Enjoy!  By-the-way leftovers freeze really well in individual ziplocks! Now I plan on substituting parmesan cheese for the wheat crackers to lower the carbs cause I am a DS'er. I have done this for meatballs and it works great. Hope you enjoy this later on down the road. Distract yourself.  Pizze time (or something darn close to it) will come soon.  Step away from the TV and get your mind on other things.  I do remember how hard that was at the beginning.  Withdrawal bites!  Still hard at times.  Best of luck! TraciL

I had the same exact craving.  About 6 weeks out, I ended up at the Baysox game with a bunch of friends and decided to go ahead and buy a slice.  I was in my soft food phase and figured what the heck.  I nibbled the end off the slice and it didn't taste anything at all like I remembered.  It wasn't nearly as good and the bread didn't do anything for me.  The craving has not returned since.  I consider this a good thing and I hope you will have a similar experience.

Gina: I know this feeling so well:  You are still a couple weeks away but I have found that eating the tomato sce and cheese off the top gives me that taste of pizza. in a couple weeks try that and maybe some ricotta cheese and tomato sce; I order stuffed shells or manocotti and don't eat the pasta.  The best part is one order will last me 3-4 meals LOL  I am a cheap date.
