OH HAPPY DAY!!!
Hey all -
Since everyone was so nice about the death of our sweet Beagle, Molly, I just thought I'd share that on Saturday, we got a new little furry someone to love!! Please welcome Happy Huber to our group!!! Happy is 1 year old, a mutt (although I prefer to think of her as MIXED). She's black and tan and I can see some terrier, Beagle and maybe mini Pin in her. She is sooooooo tiny, too, only 11 pounds and has a very small frame.
I had been looking online at rescue organizations, didn't want to fund a puppy mill operation, and saw her picture. When I saw that she fit what we wanted - female, small, young, but not a puppy, housebroken, etc., I applied to meet her. Well, she and her foster mom visited us on Saturday, and since Happy seemed happy to stay, she's ours now. The poor little baby was thrown from a car and then subsequently hit by another. Her rescuer nursed her back to health and had her spayed, and then placed her with this rescue organization. The vet that treated her gave her the name Molly for paperwork purposes, and since there's no way I could call another dog Molly, her foster mom didn't see a problem with us changing it. So Happy it is!
She is the cutest, teeniest little thing - and loves everyone! With the exception of cats - sorry, Lefty!! She's so little that we're either going to have to chicken wire the wider areas in our fence and porch, or constantly put her on a leash, which I'm not inclined to do. She truly could squeeze between the railings on our front porch.
She's got a wonderful personality, and does this maneuver I like to call "carpet swimming!" When you call her, she lays down on the floor and crawls/swims with her front paws, dragging her hind and rear legs behind her. It's the most hysterical thing!!!
She doesn't appear to have any lasting damage from her accident, but we're going to take her to a vet this week just to have her checked out! But for better or worse, Happy's ours and it appears that we're hers!! She of course, can not replace Molly, that wasn't my intent, but it has helped to ease our hurt. My Molly will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart, but I've learned there's room for more than one fur baby in my life!!!
I'll post pictures (yeah, right, Heather Mod-i will post for me) when she's able!!!
Tia
She sounds adorable!!! I look forward to the pictures when Heather Mod-I has time!
Hugs, Mo
P.S. Lefty's feelers are hurt now
Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
Hi Tia,
I am glad that you found a new fur baby to love. She sounds so cute and fun. We are ready to find a fur baby ourselves. With the move and my surgery and just plain being busy we have taken our time in getting another pet. Snickers is still missed daily, and we will always love and miss her. (You understand!) So if you have any advise or wouldn't mind recommending some places to check out that would be great. We would love to go through a rescue organization.
Congratulations! I look forward to the pictures.
Hugs, Robin
Life is great! Learn to love, laugh and have fun everyday; for each day is a gift from God!!!

Hi Rob -
www.petfinder.com is where we found Happy. They're linked to a ton of rescue sites, and you can actually kind of specify what you're looking for as far as age, size, gender, etc. I'd been looking at Happy's pic for about a week, and just couldn't resist that face. She's so loveable and eager to be loved, hopefully, we'll have a long time to do just that!
Check out the 'net for Howard County Animal Rescue, too! Happy says thanks for wanting to rescue a cousin!!
Tia
Thanks, Kelli! Yeah, at first, I kind of dismissed her pic right away when I saw what her name was, but you're right, it might've been my Molly saying it's okay. I was even willing to change it to something that sounded like Molly, but when her foster mom said she didn't really know her name, it was an easy decision. It's nice to have someone happy to see me at the end of the day!!
