6 mo Pre Op Weight loss/diet???

Has anyone POST-OP had to do the 6 month pre-op diet for insurance purposes and either gain weight or not lose anything???   If so, were there any issues getting approved? I am a summer eater.  I know that's the exception to the rule, but I lose better in the winter.  Summer, I am just constantly going everywhere, several vaca's and parties galore. I actually gained weight the first 4 months of my 6, and just recently been able to control my eating more and start to lose a few pounds.  I'm down to about what I weighed in at my original weigh in at the surgeons office.  I have 2 1/2 weeks to go before my final weigh in.   I am "borderline" weight/height to get the surgery in the first place.  5'4" and 232# so I really didn't want to lose much due to being afraid I may not "qualify" in the eyes of the Insurance Gods!   Any advice? Personal experiences?  Much appreciated!   Kelly

Hi Kelly~ I recently just completed the 6 month weight check and I  didn't lose any weight at all. It really depends on what insurance you have but I think in most cases if you do the 6 months and you have a BMI of 40 or I think it's 35 w/ related health issues. They have no reason to turn you down unless, it's an excluded procedure w/ your insurance. Best of luck and keep posted, Christina

I lost a few at first but I can tell you that since I got approved, I have gained. I haven't weighed but I can feel it. I can't decide whether it is better to try and lose some more before surgery or just eat all the things I love before surgery.
