Hi and welcome. My surgeon, Dr. Schweitzer is in the same practice with Dr. Magnuson. I have a co-worker who had Dr. Magnuson and she said he walks on water. I feel the same about Dr. S. LOL so you can't go wrong with that practice. I think it will depend on whether you want lap band, RNY or DS and whether you want an open or Lap procedure. I believe Dr. Magnuson does open and Dr. S does lap. Dr. S's website is www.smallscar.com. Or you can check out the bariatric practice at Johns Hopkins Bayview web site where they practice. Good luck. Jo

Best wishes as your WLS journey continues. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi and welcome back!  I have doctor Magnuson and am scheduled to have my surgery on 10/15/2007. He does the open RNY and will remove your gall bladder at the same time. I decided to have that done so I won’t have to have another surgery down the road. After WLS many people end up with gall stones due to rapid weight loss. The John’s Hopkins Bariatric Center is top notch! Sorry I can’t help you with your insurance question about Aetna . Your best bet would be to contact your insurance company and ask them if WLS is a covered benefit and what qualifies someone to be covered.  If you have any more questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

OMG Yes.  He is a wonderful doctor.  He did my RNY on Sept. 10th.  I have had no problems....my advice is to do as he tells you by the letter and you will be fine.  My friend had him 16 months ago she also had no problems....and has lost 140 lbs and look wonderful. I feel remarkably good no pain and no problems. Just do as he tells you.  Let me know how you do. Diane
