How the heck do you get these protein drinks down?  Yesterday I  thought I would try a protein shake to sip on.  So I mixed milk with a sample from the Dr.'s office by ProComm.  I tried both Chocolate and Vanilla and could not get past the smell.  I did try a sip, but threw it away.  UGH!    So now I have mixed up a chocolate by UNJURY with milk.  Same smell, but not as strong.  This stuff is gross. Any suggestions? I'm ready to start on my pureed foods too.  Any tips there? Gagging in Maryland....

Hey April - I am right there with you with the gaggy smell, but the grit and the foam got to me, too!!!  The best I've tried has been EAS Advant Edge (silver box - 4/$4.97 at Walmart).  They are thinner than other shakes, and the chocolate tastes kind of a like a Yoo-Hoo.  I use the French Vanilla as creamer in my coffee and tea - add some cinnamon or s/f coffee syrup and you can't even tell! Try the clear Isopure drinks, I used to buy mine at GNC - just make sure you get the s/f, low carb high protein version.  I liked the blue raspberry and the fruit punch.  But a lot of people don't like them. As far as pureed: Refried beans - with or without cheese Ricotta - you can make this sweet by adding Splenda and cinnamon or you can make it savory by adding Italian spices and some salt and pepper I used to make shrimp salad and puree it, same with tuna and egg salads Bean and ham soup  Chili Basically, if you can puree it, you can eat it!!  People say that the taste isn't altered by pureeing it, but it sure seem like that to me!  I was pretty happy to get off of the pureed phase, let me tell you! Good luck, pureeds won't last forever! Tia

I take the Unjury chocolate, 4 oz skim milk, a packet of splenda, tablespoon of decafe instant coffee and ice in the blender, it's the only one I could ever get down and I still drink one every day Stephanie

Stephanie, This sounds good.  How much ice are you using.  Sounds dumb, but I don't want to water it down much. Also, I threw a couple of strawberries into the chocolate and its better. Thanks,

April, I'm currently using my Isopures. So far I'm having no problems with it. Except I have to take my pain pills every 4 hours or so. I really hate the feeling of liquids going into my pouch. Feels too weird. Hope this helps. Good luck

April - I like the chocolate Maximum Protein from GNC.  It shakes up well and is pretty thin - more like chocolate milk than a shake. Try to avoid putting protein shakes in a blender, they foam up terrible and the foam seems to bring out whatever nasty flavor is hidden underneath. Good Luck, Ted

I like worldwide pure protein GNC and Trader joes carry it. But Trader Joes in Annapolis only has chocolate and vanilla.  GNC is more expensive unless you use their coupons and their 20% off the 1st-7th of the month as a gold card member but I like their banana the best. Their strawberry is ok but i hate the cookies and cream. Anyway it is lots of protein 35 grams in just an 11 oz can . That makes a big difference to me. My tastes have changed though at first I liked chocolate best, then it was vanilla and now it is banana. But everyone is different and likes different ones plus my own tastes keep changing, There are 2 different pure proteins but I like the worldwide. Worldwide also carries a 21 gr protein drinks but I like the 35 because I like to get what I can in with as little as possible. Good luck. You will find something you like keep experimenting. I don't like the EAS Advantage, or isopure  plus it is less protein  for the same amounts but I see others like it. Good luck. Laurie

April I was the same way and could not stand it, all of it BUT I like muscle milk that is pre-mixed.  It taste like a yoohoo too me.  I did start on mush early but with the doctors ok due to the need of protein.  I only have it once a day and usually at dinner.  Tonight I had fresh salmone.  Hugs Kristen

April, look on my profile. I listed a lot of high protein low fat low carb pureed foods that I think you might enjoy.  Also I have a spread sheet on my profile, you may have to look back a couple of months were I did an evaluation of many of the protein drinks. Good luck. Jo
