There are several of us who are Dr. S's patients over at Bayview.  My surgery is a month off, so I can't answer specific questions, but I'm sure you'll get some good advice from Elaine, Heather, Jo, etc.

Hi! I had surgery with Dr. S at Bayview. I loved the nurses and everybody at Bayview. Most of us have had good experiences; a couple have not. I know Jo also had a good experience. She had DS surgery with Dr. S. The nurses really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I only spent the night of surgery and went home the next day. You are in great hands!! Let us know if you have any questions. Also, when you go for your anesthesiologist visit before surgery, they are very informative and really take the time to make sure you understand what is going to happen from the moment you walk into the door on surgery day. Good luck! We'll be watching and praying!! Take care! ~~ Trish

I am having my surgery at Bayview on Monday. My girlfirend had her surgery at Bayview.  I was their with her surgery and several days.  All the nurses were great and Dr. Manguson did her RNY.  She had no complicaions.  Is is a year and one half out and has lost 140 lbs.  She looks wonderful. You are in good hands at Bayview.

Hi. Don't be worried. Bayview was great. I had the DS so I was in for 3 days and 2 nights. The nursing care was suberb. Read my profile for Aug. It is very detailed. You have a fine surgeon at a great hospital. Hugs.

I think JH Bayview was great as well. I had my surgery there on April 3rd. Dr S was absolutely wonderful as well as the nurses there. I was there for a couple of days and the only thing I would say is that you have to ask for some help in doing a sponge bath. They do not offer to give you one, you have to ask. They are aware of what we are there for and everyone knows that as an overweight person you tend to get a little odor due to the sweat in our fat folds so they should be more aware of our need for a sponge bath. I have not lost as much weight as I think I should have which is frustrating so do know that results will vary.  Carol

I had surgery there on July 24 and I can't say enough good things about the staff there (maybe except the phalanx of residents who pop in at 5:30 am!!!) I had an awesome room, ask for a private room and you might get the VIP suite! It's like a nice hotel room and a lot more quiet than the rest of the place.  And, when I had to go back to the ER, I could really tell I was in the best place possible.  Good luck on your journey, you'll do fine! Hugs, Nancy
