A Wow Moment...

I will admit that my WOW moments are a little different than most.    Mine is an exercise WOW moment. I started a 5K training class 6 weeks ago in preparation for the Race To Remember next Tuesday.   On the first day of that class we had to run a road course that was 1.5 miles long.   I covered the distance in 14 minutes and 22 seconds.    Not too bad for someone who had had WLS just 4 and a half months prior. On that day, I also finished about a minute behind the fastest young lady in this class.    Last night we re-ran the same road course to see how we progressed.   I ended up running the course in 12:16.   A two minute improvement over my original time.   Not only that, I finished almost a minute ahead of the young lady that beat me in the first run.    With my progress in the class, my coach has set my goal for the 9/11 race at 27:00.   That would mean I would have to run sub 9 minute miles to accompli****   While I doubt I can do that for 3.1 miles, I will try! Hope your weekends are great.

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa , a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Hey Dave That is absolutely awesome!!!   I'm looking for you to re-inspire me .. I've been slackin' on the gym this week.  I skipped out on the gym Wed, Thurs and today .. headed to Boston on Sunday for a few days, but I'm hoping by the time I'm back next Thursday I'll be over this funk about the gym. Good luck on Tuesday for your sub 9 minute mile!!! Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

WTG Dave!!   I am just in total awe of how GREAT you are doing just shy a few days of 6 months post op.  You are truly an inspiration and I love to read your accomplishments.  Someday I will be just like you when I grow up.  ;-) Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
