I talked with the doctor's office, Dr. Kligman, and I finally have a "tentative" surgery date for October 44th and am excited and scared at the same time.  Its almost surreal that its happening to me.  I have fought this weight battle since I was 10 and then got diabetes that requires insulin injections and pills.  Now there's this light at the end of the tunnel and I'm almost there.  I'm almost in disbelief that I can be healthy again.  Has anyone else ever felt those feelings?  Is this normal?  Did you feel like crying?  just my thoughts for the morning.  I'm a bit overwhelmed and excited

Are you kidding me? Ofcourse you should feel nervous and excited! First of all congradulations, IO can't wait to be in your shoes. I just started my 6 months supervision and met with Dr. and there is bujtterfly flying in my stomach already. I now what you mean, imagine by the new year you will be a whole new you and hopefully med free very soon. In my last support meeting there 3 different contributers ( post-op patients) that were all severely diabetic presurgery, two fo them were free ofmedication, the third one interestingy had had surgery 28 hours before the meeting and was already reduced to 2 from 12 dose. Good luck and keep us posted.

Your feelings are absolutely normal. It is the most exciting, scarry time. It is hard to believe it is finally going to happen. Eventhough I am almost 3 weeks post op, I find it hard to believe my self. It is amazing to me. Good luck on your journey. Jo

Welcome to feeling normal about your date! It was exciting and terrifying all at the same time. The excitement and promise for a new life won out over the terror!

Thanks to everyone for responding, this message board is a life saver.  Did you all start exercising prior to the surgery?  did that make it easier?
