What did you do today?

Ok, time for the Wednesday evening roll call!!!  What did yall do today?   come on out and tell us about it.

I was up at 4:30 a.m. and off to Big Vanilla for 35 minutes of cardio on the treadmill.   Did 30 minutes at 3.0 mph on an incline of 10.0 then 5 min cooldown at 2.8 mph.  I am definitely developing stamina .. it wasn't that long ago that the 8 incline was whooping my butt and the 10 this a.m. was not so bad even at 3.0 mph.  I'm going for the incline as opposed to the speed though I'm very happy to be doing 2.8-3.0 .

Work has been busy.  We were putting together a package to have some jobs reclassified and it needed to be finished by noon today.  It's a relief to have it done, I just hope they actually do something with the request.

After lunch I spent the afternoon helping out with some 'back office' work in the cashiers section and doing the office settlement.   I've gotten much less stressed with settlement .. as long as I do it once in a while to stay in practice.  Sometimes I think my staff would rather I stay out of their way .

Now I'm off to cut some strips for the quilt and see if I can't sew for a couple of hours.

I'll check back in  a bit.

Hugs, Mo

I worked today, Mo has you seen the new Big Vanilla in Pasadena?  I was thinking about joining that Gym cause it is close to work.  They also have a pool there and my daughter loves to swim. Kristen

Hi Kristen,

I belong to the BV in Arnold.  There is a pool there too, but I haven't used it.  I have managed to get in the routine of going to the gym EARLY in the a.m.  when I was only sleeping anyway.  I only have about 35-40 minutes but I've not getten boared with it either.  I thinki If I had jumped in with the idea that I needed to exercise for hours every day I never would have stuck with it.

I had almost a month with no gym during June/July when I had my kidney stent .. I was a cranky camper!!!  But I have to admit .. it was tough to get back in the routine but I pushed myself to do it.

I try to post about my day's workout daily to be accountable to yall for my commitment to exercise.

Big V often gives a free week to check out the facility .. so you might want to try that.

Hugs, Mo

Hi Mo, I have never heard of the Big Vanilla.  Thought it was an inside joke.  Silly me!  Or is it?  Wonder if they have one in Harford County.  I would like to check out some facilities before my surgery.  Should have started exercising sooner, but could not get it together.  Now I have just 2 weeks.  Woo Hoo!  I have the Walk Off the Pounds video (unopened for at least 4 years ).  Have you ever used these or heard of anyone else using them?  A few of the girls at work seem to like them. Wanted you to know that I enjoy your frequent posts.  I look forward to seeing whats going on with you and the people *****ply.  I feel like I'm getting to know the local group. Anyway,  I'm relaxing with my Holter Monitor on for the final part of my cardiac clearance.  Wish me luck.  I should know tomorrow if I have entirely passed this final hurdle. April

Hi April! Big Vanilla is local to Anne Arundel Couinty and until about 6 months ago there was just the one in Arnold but another opened in Pasadena.   BV started I don't know how many years ago (it was here when I moved to MD in 1986) as an indoor tennis and racketball facility.   The original one has expanded and evolved into a full service athletic club (with only 3 remaining tennis courts as the fitness floor has taken over .. lol). Don't feel badly about not exercising sooner ...  I am/was a true couch potato and even post op it took me from March 2004 until December 2006 to get into the swing of regular exercise.  I guess if I could do one thing differently since my surgery .. it would have been to catch on to how much fun (*snicker*) going to the gym at 5 a.m. every day is. I've never done Walk Off the Pounds, but I've seen folks on the Main Board post that they use it and like it.   For myself, I find that I have to go out somewhere (the gym) for my exercise.   I am just not disciplined enough to set aside time at home to do it.   If I had a treadmill and/or weight machine here I'd find any number of excuses not to get up at 4:30 a.m. and use it!   It's all a matter of personal choice really. I am by no means a poster child for WLS .. I've not reached goal (and may never .. who knows) ... I make some bad food choices ... but I am so much better off than when I was almost 300 pounds. Thank you for posting and please keep participating.   I'm going to try to make What Did You Do Today a daily post. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. Hugs, Mo

Good morning! I guess it is Thursday. What a week this has been! I was quite busy in the office once again. Same old- same old. At least today I didn't have to deal with any nasty people. I have been experiencing some bad back pains to go along with my shoulder and hip pain. Coincidentally, I ha made an appointment to see a chiropractor. I saw him yesterday for my first real treatment. He discussed his plan with me and got things started. I didn't realize it when I maade this appointment that this guy travels with the Ravens for their pain issues. He cracked me in 3 places and had me undergo some physical therapy also. I am supposed to see him 3 times a week for a month and then drop it to teice a week after that.  I must say that I am feeling considerably better this morning. It isn't excruciating for me when I turn or even as I try to take a deep breathe. I think this may do the trick as long as I stop tripping over things. I tripped over someone's bookbag in the office yesterday. I felt myself falling. I would have gone down right on my face if my son who is still working in my office hadn't been right there and caught me. Luckily, we didn't have any visitors in the room at the time as I let out an expletive at the time I was starting to fall. Oh well! I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday!

Oh (((( Aime )))) Good luck with the back & Chiropractor.   I can only imagine how miserable it is to have back pain.   I've been pretty fortunate through my life not to have those issues.   I've had a pinched nerve a time or two that has given me back spasms, but nothing long term, Tripping over things can be painful and embarrassing as well .. been there done that. Hope the back treatments do the trick sooner rather than later and you are all fixed up! Hugs, Mo
