Hey everyone, I have a 10, 7 and 1 year old.  My biggest problem has been finding family friendly recipes and snack ideas.  I am in the process of putting together a cookbook for other WLS patients and was looking for some new ideas.  Let me know if you have a recipe or snack idea.  Thanks!!!!  Monica   [email protected]

There was somebody who posted (maybe on a different board?) a recipe for what they called "Protein Balls."  If I recall properly, they were supposed to be like no-bake cookies and had peanut butter and protein powder.  Supposedly you could get about 7 grams or so of protein jammed into one small ball.   Wait... today is your lucky day.  I copied the recipe!  Unfortunately, I don't know who to give the credit to.  The post I copied is as follows:

They're like no bake cookies.  Depending upon how large you make them, they're about 100 calories each and have about 7 grams of protein.  Every time I make them I add up the ingredients in fitday and divide by the number of balls I made.  Here's the recipe: 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup rolled oats (regular oatmeal, not quick or instant) 1 cup protein powder (I use Any Whey, but the original recipe suggested chocolate) 1/4 cup Splenda 50/50 mixture of unsweetened cocoa and Splenda Put peanut butter in a bowl and microwave for 30-45 seconds until liquid-y.  Add rolled oats, protein powder and Splenda (I put about 1/3 of each in, stir, repeat).  If it gets too dry, sprinkle water.  Once you've got your mixture together, roll in to balls and put on a plate.  Put the 50/50 mix in a sifter and dust over the top.  The original recipe I got said to roll them individually, but this took a lot of time and made a mess so I changed my method.  Put them in to an airtight container and refrigerate. I love these things.  They're a treat and also add protein to my day.

Thanks for the recipe  Eric !!!! I too saw it a while ago on the main board but didn't think about saving it at  that time.  Sounds yummy : D Not sure if this is such a kid friendly recipe but It sure helps get the protein powder tasting less like BLAHHHH. 2 scoops vanilla ice cream Whey powder 8 ounces Skim milk  1 tbl spoon peanut butter Blend and enjoy ! Taste just like a peanut butter milk shake. I'm still pre-op, I've started replacing lunch w/ a protein shake.  Good luck w/ the cookbook, I would love to hear what you've come up with. I have a 1.5 , 3 and 12 year old. Christina
