Hi, Everyone, In case it's not been discussed... Several Baltimore bariatric centers (St. Agnes, Hopkins Bayview, St. Joe, and Sinai) are participating in this year's Walk From Obesity. I'm on the planning committee and I wanted to share the info with you now so you can get it on your calendars. It will be Saturday, October 20 at the Camden Yards complex. Registration and check-in starts at 8:00am; the walk starts at 9:00 am. There are several walk options for walkers of different abilities, and the path is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible. To register: visit http://walkfromobesity.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ieve nt=240046 and feel free to join Team Bayview!  If you're not able to attend but you'd still like to sponsor a walker, there's a "Sponsor Walker" search feature... or you could sponsor me by clicking here: http://tinyurl.com/24569s The money raised by the walk will go towards obesity research, education, prevention, and treatment. I hope to see you there! Lisa

Thanks for the info. When it mentions treatment, does this mean that a portion of the funds will be put forward in assisting someone in medical need of the surgery that doesn't have insurance or the funds.  Are any of the bariatric clinics involved in any form of donating at least one WLS surgery a year to someone who is in need of the surgery and do not have insurance?  After all, a lot of us fat folk with and without insurance have helped some of these hospitals create a bariatric center. Just some activist questions that came to mind.
