Dear Friends, I bought the Carroll County Times news paper on my way to work and on the front page was a picture of their receptionist Peggy Villeila.  Peggy passed yesterday at her home as a result of WLS article said that they thought it was a blood clot, she had been on med's for problems with her heart. I do not know Peggy she had her surgery at Sinai Hospital. Please join me in lifting up her family Peggy was 62 years old Bobbie (Barbara)

Oh no...that is so very sad. I will pray for her family. I have to admit that I am sitting at my desk in tears right now. This is really close to home. It is impacting me as I will be having surgery on 10/2. I really want this surgery but the closer it gets the more scared I get.

I completely understand how you feel, I was terrified those few days leading up to my surgery so you are not alone with that. This story hits home for me as well because I had my surgery at Sinai. I am just wondering which doctor performed it. If it was mine or if it was one of the other two.

Gail, When I was getting close to ending my supervised visits I stumbled accross the memorials in the OH site and I freaked out and cried a lot.  But soon I knew I had made peace with my decision and with the help of my OH friends I survived that stage of fear.   By the time I went in for surgery I was not nervous until I was in the surgery room and by that time i think i was only up for a few minutes.  lol You are going to do great! I am here for you if you need to talk. Hugs,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

My wife was sort of freaking out a bit prior to my surgery because any surgery is dangerous.  I had seen the OH memorials too but refused to show them to her.  She still doesn't know they exist.

I read the article in the Carroll County Times. Is it common practice to do this surgery on someone who has heart conditions?

I know at Sinai and I assume its like this at all hospitals with bariatric surgery, they make you have a cardiac screening and you have to be cleared by a cardioloigst before they will do the surgery.

Not the kind of news I want to hear as I prepare for surgery.  I've been told, however, that blood clots can be a complication from any kind of surgery.  We had a family friend pass away two days after surgery on her liver from a clot. She sounds like she was a wonderful lady that will be missed by many.  The story can be found here - http://www.carrollcounty.com/articles/2007/08/24/news/local_ news/newsstory5.txt My prayers go out to her family. Ted
