Hi everyone I am from Glen Burnie Maryland, I am having surgery on Sept 10th at Sinai Hospital.  Just wondering if there is anyone else that had surgery there.  I just love Dr. Gandsas and pray that everything is going to be ok.  I am now at the worry stage, just a little.  I am looking for advise and input.  I am having the RYN by lap.  Nice to meet everyone and look forward to hanging out here more.

Thanks Kristen

Hi Kristen, Welcome to the board!   Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and a very speedy recovery! Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Welcome to the board. I just had lap surgery at Bayview for the Duodenal Switch. I was worried but knew I was in such great hands with Dr. Schweitzer as I am sure you feel with Dr. Gandsas. You are gonna do great!

Hi Kristen, I was looking for a good place for my first post and found yours - It seems I am also scheduled for a RNY with Dr. Gandsas on Sept 10.  I've had nothing but positive experiences with him and the staff at Sinai - but even so, I have to admit I'm a little nervous myself. Looking forward to meeting you as they force us to walk around the halls on the evening of the 10th! Good luck, and see you soon! Ted

I'm glad you found this board, it's nice to meet ya.  I'm a newbie myself. I'll look forward to hearing all the great stories of the hallway races between you and Kristin.  Best of luck with  your surgery, and a hopefully quick and uneventful recovery.
Hugs!

I had my surgery two years ago at Sinai.  Dr. Li was my doctor, but, as you know, she's in the same practice as Dr. Gandsas.  I had concerns about how I would be treated in the hospital, about the level of professionalism and caring I would experience from the nursing staff, and the level of services that would be provided over the weekend, since my surgery was on a Friday.  Even two years ago, when WLS was still pretty new, Sinai was wonderful.  All of the nursing staff were "up" on the surgery and the needs of WLS patients.  I never got conflicting care advice from them; everything was in agreement with what the surgeon's office told me to expect. They were very good and I felt my care was top-notch.

Welcome to the board.  I recently started posting here myself, so still a newbie.  I'm sure we'll see you more before your surgery, but I wish you a quick and uneventful recovery and look forward to hearing about your weight loss success as I continue to prepare for my surgery which should take place sometime in November.
Hugs!
Kathy
