Vertical Sleeve Surgery
I did not have the sleeve surgery, I had laproscopic RNY. I took three weeks off of work. While I probably could have gone back to work at two weeks, at the time I had sufficient sick leave to take three and I did. The extra week gave me enough time to get used to the patterns of food and vitamins, etc.
You're in good hands with Dr. Gandsas. The Sinai team is tops.
I had open RNY and went back to work in two weeks to a desk job. Everyone's experience with recovery can be different though.
Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.
Hugs, Mo
Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
Whew! I had my VS surgery on Wednesday. Doc also repaired an umbilical hernia. I came home Thurs. evening. The hardest part for me was a horrible headache. That took my mind off any other discomfort. Hospital gave e liquid painkiller perscription. The surgery was fine...nothing notable, which i believe is good. But the headache was non stop. My second most painful thing was the hernia repair. Ouch. Last evening I had a sore throat, my ear hurt and my sinuses were ucky. My kids took me to an immediate Care place. Diagnosed with upper respiratory infection. Ah-ha! What timing, huh? Oh well I feel awful but it is unrelated to WLS and with antibiotic it will run its course. The vertical sleeve surgery seems like a snap...it's the other stuff that kicked me. Still I feel very lucky and look forward to my first protien shake today.
