I finially made it to pureed foods!!  Trust me, I'm really not into pureeing any foods but there are things on the menu that I can enjoy.  Last night, I had about 1 oz of mashed potatoes and this morning I had about 1 oz of Cream of Wheat.  The sensation of eating again was kind of strange.  I think the 1 oz portions were just about right.  Without a frame of reference for this new stomach, I didn't want to overdo it.  Especially, when the alternative is throwing up. For all you Dr. E patients out there, I asked Carissa (the PA) if I had to do the "dribble before you nibble" with pureed foods.  For all the non-Dr. E folks, that means to stop drinking liquids 25 mins before a meal and continue not drinking liquids for 1 hr after a meal.  I was told that I do not have to do that with the pureed foods but it would be wise to try to get used to it before soft foods.  I decided I would stop drinking before the meal and not drink for 30 mins after.  That should give me plenty of practice for the real deal in 7-8 days. I hope all my OH friends are doing well out there!!

I lived off of creamed soups, regular soups, etc. I could barely finish half a cup of soup. I followed the 15 mins pre and 30 mins after rule. I still do. Looks like you are doing great.

When I got to puree foods I felt like I was in heaven.  My favorites were cream soups and mashed potatoes with melted cheese on it.  That was a major treat for me.   I do the 30 minute rule before and after meals. I even did it during the puree stage.   Good luck with everything.

I see that both you and Aime follow a 30 minute rule but my surgeon says not to drink 25 mins before and 1 hr after.  I wonder if that's the difference between the RNY and the VBG?  I have a band and you don't??? --Eric

Right I believe it is different for you since you have a different surgery. Aime and I have the same dr and we both have the RNY.   We have a tiny pouch connected directly to our small intestine.   We do not have a band.   make sure to follow your dr's rules so that you are successful.   Best wishes!

Hey, you're doing great.  I'm looking forward to 8/15 which is my post-op checkup when I should get permission  for pureed foods.  I had lapband on 8/6, and by  today was grouchy and really out of sorts, so I went and had a cafe vanilla light frappichino and bought some grapefruit juice, which I hadn't used for a while due to interactions with my antidepressants.  I'm pretty sick of sugar-free popsicles at this point, and mushy potatoes and cream soup sound great to me.  Keep up the good work.  Paula
