Good Saturday morning

Good morning! Mine started rather early as I had a repeat sleep study done last night at GBMC. They woke me bright and early at 5 am so they could send me out the door by 6. At least they now offer people a cup of coffee to send them on their way with these days. I recall my first one and feeling like my night was ended so abruptly.  I did get the tech to hint a little to me about the results. I do have some sleep apnea. She said it wasn't that bad, but enough to still require a cpap.  Oh well! I may need to resign myself to the fact that I will always sleep with one. At least that may protect me from the urge to bring someone home with me. Nuttin sexy about that mask!  Have a great weekend. I will soon be off to western Maryland to spend the weekend with my mother.

I have been using a C-pap for about 3 years.  I was tested as needing one about 7 years ago  because at Howard County General Hospital  where I did my test, they said I woke up 45 times PER HOUR!  Even so, I didn't go for the repeat study for at least two years because I felt I would never want to use the machine.  Two major factors convinced me to go.  First, my husband said my  snoring drove him crazy.  Second, I was always tired, and a friend told me her husband used one, and he had a lot more energy.  I have never regretted getting the machine, and I even take it on vacations, cause it's easy to tote.  It's well worth it, as I do sleep better. I have my lapband surgery on this coming Monday, so I went to my final seminar on Friday and was feeling kind of low after it, thinking I really didn't want to do this--that I could do without.  Later in the evening, however, my husband and I watched the dvd we had just received from our high school reunion held in June of this year, and when I saw myself, I quickly forgot my misgivings.  I looked so awful, that I felt I needed to go forward.  I will ultimately need to lose 100 pounds, but I have lost about 17 since my visit with the surgeon this past May.  I hope all goes well with you with your c-pap. It really does help.  And have a good weekend.  Paula  (P.S.  When I had my first sleep study, they dismissed me very early in the morning, and when I came home, my husband said, "so, you were keeping the hospital awake with your snoring?"

Hey Aime, I never had a sleep study pre-op (even though I was a serious snorer) and post op my snoring has improved dramatically.   I still snore a little if my mouth falls open but I don't wake myself up from the noise any more No big plans here for the weekend.   Need to run to Petsmart for Lefty food .. and to Sam's club for some lunch supplies for the week.  I've had my shower and need to work on blowing the new 'do' for practice to see how it's going to work for me.    I think I might try to start on my sewing projects today.   Have the sewing machine set up on the glass porch and it's a bit warm out there, so need to figure out how to cool it off if I'm going to spend time sewing. Drive safely to Frostburg. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

I asked my tech to give me a hint about my results when I took my test too.  He told me I had a mild case but didn't know if it was enough to require a CPAP.  So, I passed that info to my surgeon's office.  What a MISTAKE!!  As it turns out the official results came back and I did NOT have sleep apnea.  It created problems in the surgeon's office because they already thought I had it and, once they got it in their heads that I needed a CPAP it was hard to convince them otherwise.  I literally had to yell and scream at them to get them to read the official report! --Eric
