Introduction
Hello everyone,
. I am considering weight loss surgery. My sister is actually having surgery today. I am 33, and have been overweight all my adult life. I can not seem to get it off no matter what I do. Have done weigh****chers, Am at my 3rd gym. I go to the gym 3-5 days a week for 1.5 - 2 hrs a night. I have been doing this since late January and have finally lost about 11lbs. My friend and I go together, she has lost almost 40 lbs. I am insulin resistant - related to PCOS, and have mild asthma. Have dealt with PP depression after the birth of my youngest daughter, and have a history of several tumors. Otherwise health is right now ok. I am 5 ft 8.5 and at 271lbs.
Wow, I can't believe my husband doesn't even know that and yet I just posted it for all of you to see.
I have reached a point in my life that this HAS to change.
I look forward to meeting all of you and gaining the information I need to know what decision is right for me and my family.

Hi !!!
Welcome aboard! Best wishes as your WLS journey begins and continues. The Maryland board is a group of very caring and supportive folks so you have definitely come to the right place.

Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
Wow, thanks for the welcome! I did make a call tonight for an appt. Am going to make another post to get opinions on DR's.
Wasn't overly impressed with this office already. I called and they won't even give me an appt until they mail out a packet, I fill it out, send it back, they process it. Then they will send me another packet that I have to fill out and when they get that back, then they will call me to make an appt.
mmmmm is that normal? I told her I hadn't even made a decision yet- just wanted to talk to the DR and ask some questions. She said they have to go through these steps, that is just how their office works.
