What if I can't have aritificial sweeteners?
Yes, I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners - NutraSweet, Splenda, Saccahrine. Just a tiny bit of them gives me a horrible migraine.
I notice folks saying that there chewable vitamins have artificial sweeteners, their protein drinks, on their clear diets.
Is there a way to do this without having artificial sweeteners? What do you all think?
Thanks!

ElizaJane,
I can imagine that it would be difficult to find those items (vitamins/protein supplements) without the artificial sweeteners you mentioned. Perhaps you'd be able to use Stevia (which is a plant based sweetener).? I suggest that you get with your Nutritionist, perhaps she'll be able to recommend a product that does not contain the artificial sweeteners that you mentioned.
HTH
Yes, the nutritionist and I are going to have to spend a lot of time together with all my allergies. I just hope there is a way around things as I have a lot of food allergies too - milk, soy, berries, etc. I can tolerate some milk, but definitely not soy. It isn't going to be easy - I will have to find out what I will need to eat after the surgery and try a lot of things so I'll know if I can use them.
My herbalist knows of liquid vitamins - I don't know if that meets the requirements or not.
Stevia is no longer legal in the US - last I heard (from the dietician that is doing my 6 mo diet) is that the FDA took it off the "acceptable" list - I don't know why. That was the only sweetener I could tolerate.
It's hard going into this knowing I have so many limitations. I so desperately need the help this surgery provides, but know there are many reasons why it may not work for me.
Thanks for your reply -
