Weight still off after 1 or 2 yrs??????
Tia provided some good info but I'd like to add a little more about dumping. The dumping syndrome is associated with your pyloric sphincter, which is the muscle that connects the stomach to the doudenum. This is where your body processes sugars. In restrictive surgeries (i.e., Lap Band and VBG w/sleeve), this part of your stomach is left alone so there isn't (or shouldn't be) any dumping. It's surgeries like the gastric bypass where the pyloric sphincter is bypassed where you find dumping.
Hope this helps.

You guys are just great!!!! I am getting so much information from your experiences and really taking to heart what you have had to do after surgery. I called the MD office and asked a few questions and I was told that it was possible to gain weight if you dont really do the lifestyle changes. It just seems so strange that you make a stomach smaller, then bypass a portion of the intestines and yet you still can gain the weight back.
I took a look at a sample diet and when I saw it, it seemed so easy, managable really. I thought to myself that this really the way I should have been all along. I do appreciate all the dietary input as it really does help me think more about what will lie ahead.
I have just started the process with the diet.............again. I mean really how many does it take ?????!!!!! I am always looking for insight and experiences so truly I thank you all.

Oh. just a side note................................................... I am willing to give up everything that once tasted good, was loaded with fat yet filled with flavor.
I will however miss one thing..............................;(
A good peice of dark chocolate.................................. what a bummer.
