Postponed till Thursday!
Well, I'm home today...rather unexpectedly. We were in the car, almost all the way to Bayview this morning, when my cell phone rings. It's the OR nurse at Bayview telling me that Dr. Schweitzer needs to postpone my surgery until Thursday! There were some problems with the first patient this morning. He had already been in that surgery for 3 hours, and didn't know when he would be out. I was speechless. I mean, what can you say in a situation like that? I felt really let down, of course. However, I sure am hoping that everything is okay with the patient he's working on. I wouldn't have wanted to go ahead with it today (even if they had let me), knowing that the surgeon had already been through a majorly stressful case before me. They assured me that I will be the first case of the day on Thursday. So I'm shooting for 9 a.m. Thursday.
The good news is that I got to have breakfast this morning after all! Since I didn't get any sleep last night, I'm just going to relax and take it easy today.
Thank you all for your wonderful, kind words of encouragement and support. Please keep those prayers and well-wishes coming for just a wee bit longer!
Best,
Elaine

(((( Elaine ))))
Enjoy your breakfast and take it easy. Things happen for a reason and Thursday will be here before you know it.
Hugs, Mo
Comparison is the thief of joy!
If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished. Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago. I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits! Wherever you are in your journey ... It's ALL good!!!
Hey Lainey -
Wow! I'm so sorry it's been delayed, but I'm impressed with your attitude about it. Thursday's still gonna be here before you know it!!!! Hang in there!! We're all pulling for you!!
BTW, where do you live in Pikesville? I work in Pikesville, in the 1200 block of Reisterstown Road. Maybe we can get together for lunch (you can drink yours, I'll eat, and you'll see that there IS life after wls!!!!) You can private message me if you like!!!
Take care,
Tia
Hi Tia,
Thanks for the encouragement. I'd love to meet for lunch sometime. I live in the Ralston neighborhood. It's off Reisterstown, between Sudbrook and Slade. Let's keep in touch. Maybe after I've been home for a week, we could meet at one of the restaurants near my house. There's the Backfin, Pikes Diner, Suburban House, Mr. Chan, Jilly's, etc.. I'm only too familiar with them all!! hehehe
Best,
Elaine
Hi Laney -
I work RIGHT across the street from the Backfin - LOVE their food!!! Also, don't know if you've tried the Firs****ch Cafe (in the strip center by the Giant, but they have wonderful food, very protein packed and fresh). Anyway, let's see how you feel once you're home. I came home on clear liquids, then progressed to full liquids after a week, then pureed (ICK!), then softs/solids. Don't know what your food progression is, but just give a shout when you feel up to it. My boss is a great guy and pretty much doesn't care what I do during the day!!
Take care,
Tia
Hi Elaine,
Sorry your surgery it postponed til Thursday, but that's still only a couple of days away. I was second on the list for the day I had surgery, and was supposed to be there by 1 p.m. for my 2p.m. surgery, and they called me at home at 11 a.m. and asked if I could come right down. So, Dr. S could call at anytime. ..... you are in great hands. If his surgeries go longer than expected (and he said that if a person has a lot of scar tissue, it can take significantly longer), he will reschedule you rather than have you go without food for too long.
I will be thinking about you thursday. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so excited for you and your new journey! The nurses are great at Bayview, and of course Dr. S goes without saying.....you are in great hands!
