What not to EAT???
Hello All~
I'm a newby to the forum and have a couple of ?'s about What not to eat.
I'm in my fifth month of the supervised diet and hoping to get approval for surgery at the end of August. I haven't been to the nutritionist yet and I'm curious to know exactly what you can and can not eat. Long term and short term ~ if that makes sense ?
Also, I'd like to hear your opionions about Dr. Afram ( Washington ~ GW Hosp. )
Thanks ~ Christina
Hi Christina,
Thought I'd pass along this link:

Dr./Nutritionist's food plan vary so greatly (also depends on the type of surgery) but generally all say focus on protein (usually around 70-90 g. a day) and then if you have room complex carbs (veggies, whole grains, etc.)
Hope it helps,

I'll second what M.V. said. Once your done concentrating on getting the proper amounts of protein and water, there's not really too much room left. Everything in moderation, and your body may provide you with an answer when trying new foods. Always remember, protein first!!

Christina,
I am new, too. I attended Afram's seminar this past weekend. I thought he was very experienced and I would feel safe in his hands....but I also felt a little bit of "used car salesman" mentality. Also, his staff seemed that way, too. I guess it felt a little fake to me. I also hate that his support group meeting are on Wednesday's at noon. Now after saying ALL that, I may still go to him because this is what he does day and day out with a low rate of complications and his program takes care of all of the insurance headache for you. That is a HUGE bonus, as that is my worst stressor. Please let me know how it's going for you! Katherine
