Life Insurance

I read somewhere that it is tough to get life insurance after one has the RNY or any WLS.  Has anyone else heard this?  Has anyone successfully obtained health insurance after their surgery?  Thanks, Katherine

KT !! I switched from the County's BC/BS Carefirst/Optimum Choice to Mr Mo's Federal Blue in January.  There were no questions asked.  Now that could be because it was all still under the BC/BS umbrella. I have heard the same rumblings about life insurance that you may have heard, but have no direct experience in that regard.  I am sure there are some other forums here on OH that might address those issues.

Talk to you later!   I'm here if you want to stop down. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Katherine,  It will be hard... I need to increase my life insurance and my agent told me that i can't do anything until at least a year out. Even then i have to prove a stable weight to get a "normal" plan without a surcharge.  As far as health insurance...If you were applying for a new individual policy they will look at your past history and exclude you. When you start a new job and takes the companies coverage (or just switch to emplyoed spouses policy) there are regulations in place that say that they can't exclude pre-existing consitions.
