Looking for a doctor
I also did not have to pay for that fee. I went to St. Agnes (Dr. Singh). I did how ever have to pay for the dietitian and the physic eval, but BCBS (Federal) reimbursed me 80% of each costs and my flexable spending account reimbursed me the other 20%. It was eaiser to use Dr. Singh's dietitian and physic because the process went smoothly. He received their final evaluation within 2 weeks of my appointment with each. Another option is to have your PCP reconmend a dietitian and shrink and take those documents with you at your initital consultation. This way you have done all of the leg work up front. Good luck with everything.
Hi, I had my surgery with Dr. Magnuson at Bayview and he's the best but I don't know if he does lapband. I have federal health ins. too and I only paid my co-pays..besides the copays for doctor visits only paid $100 out of pocket for my surgery with CareFirst (Blue Choice) they're part of BCBS too. pat

I had lap band surgery with Dr. Fred Brody at George Washington University Hospital in DC. I also have federal insurance (MD IPA) and only paid my $20 co-pay for my consultation and I paid $50 for my outpatient surgery. Any other medical stuff that I needed were simple co-pays. Dr. Brody is wonderful and the hospital is the best. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Brody.
