Hi - I am new to this & had some questions.  I met with Dr. Singh from St. Agnes to discuss Lap Band.  Kind of freaked out when I saw the actual band & thought about it inside my body.   Of course, I have to go through the 6 month monitored weight loss program with their dietician.  I meet her in 2 weeks.  Does anyone know what this usually entails? I would welcome any info or comments about Dr. Singh and/or the whole Lap Band procedure. Thanks a bunch!!

Hi I don't have any experience with St Agnes or the band, but would like you welcome you to the Maryland board and wish you the best on your WLS journey. I never considered the band myself .. I was sort of 'freaked' by the idea of a foreign body/thing inside me.  I wouldn't have been a good candidate for the band anyway. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Welcome to the Maryland forum. I have heard lots of good things about St. Agnes. I considered the lap band initially, but was told the rny was my solution. Best of luck which ever way you choose to go!

Dr. Singh is also my doctor and he is great.  I did not have to do the 6 month diet (Because of insurance) but I did have to meet with the dietician prior to surgery.  I am scheduled for surgery on the 17th.  the meeting that I had with Arlene was good.  although I did not have to do the 6 month prior, I have to do 6 months post.  she was really understanding and very informative.  She is available for any questions that you might have along the way.  The best thing to do is to write your questions down ahead of time and just go down the list.  Oh by the way, welcome to the board.

I had my surgery at St. Agnes by Dr. Singh and it was the best decision that I ever made!! The hospital was great and you couldn't ask for a better doctor than Dr. Singh.  Don't think about the band in your body, you don't feel it and the fills are pain free.  Meeting with Arlene is all part of the process, she is very nice and will go over your eating habits and what you must do once you have the surgery, the vitiamins and that sort of thing. Best of luck!!

Hi - thanks for the info.  I would love to pick your brain...how much weight have you lost?  How long did it take you to recuperate?  Are the fills really pain free? I'm glad that you are doing well since the surgery!
