Hello guys! I am again popping in after an extended absense.....sorry! Well, I had posted and let ya'll know that I had my consult in August....and that MHIP would approve surgery if it was medically necessary......I have been SOOOOOOOO excited and have had all my tests done, and am all but complete on my 6 month supervised diet. I am amped and ready to go!  That was until Tuesday when I received a letter from MHIP stating that as of July 1 they were taken over by Care First Blue Choice........now for those of you *****member me, I started out with CF/BC and was DENIED!!!!!!! I cried for hours.....I am angry, I feel like I have again been knocked back to step one........I mean I am just plain p***ed!   I guess now I have to seek out new insurance because I know that my husband nor myself can afford this. WLS is an action that I need, not one that I am just seeking for beauty. I know that I am strong and hard headed and will not give up easily......I just feel let down and disappointed.   Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking for an insurance company that dies not exclude WLS? I can not go thru my employer because it is a small group......any and all suggestions....and prayers are appreciated!   For all the newbies to this page, welcome, you have found a GREAT group of people. For those I have talked to, I miss you all and I apologize for not being regular on here! To all, I hope everyone is safe, healthy, and happy! God Bless! Love, Heather J.

Had you gone through all the tests with CF/BC previously? You situation may be different. Talk to the insurance co-ordinator and with your surgeon. See what they can offier.

Heather, Do no 'assume' that you will or have been denied just because your insurance is going to CF/BC.   Coverage often depends on what the employer has elected on their policy it's not strictly based on an insurance carrier's policies. It's unfortunate that your employer is a small group.  That is the biggest negative here, but push forward with CF/BC and see what happens while you look for other insurance. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Hi Heather. Don't lose heart!  You may have to resubmit all of your paperwork/tests and other stuff you did with your old insurance.  Mo is right, talk to them and see if surgery is covered.  You can always submit an appeal as well.  I'll be praying that everything works out and that you have an answer soon!   Hugs, Robin
