Is there anyone here that is going to the Sinai Bariatric Department in Baltimore, MD.  If so, what happens at the consultation?  How long does the process take?  I have my consultation on 7/10.

Good Luck on your appointment! I am interested in surgery as well but hope to see Dr. Sweitzer when I get close to finishing the 6 month diet requirement. Did you have to do the same thing for your insurance? Could you fill me in on the details when you have completed your visit???? Thanks and again.....good luck. Jen

Make you appointment for the consult. The testing takes a lot of time. That way you won't have to wait evenlonger for approval.

Hi, I had my surgery through Sinai Bariatric in Baltimore.  My Doctor is Dr. Christina Li and I could not have had a better experience.  It's been 9 months since my surgery so I can't remember how long exactly my consoltation lasted.  I met with Dr. Li, we talked about what surgery I was interested in, told me what was expected of me and she sent me on my way to get everything done.  I'd say all in all it was about 6 months from the time I met her till the day of surgery.   Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.   Good Luck on the beginning of a great journey.

I am two years out now -- considered a "grad" I guess.  I had my surgery thru Sinai with Dr. Li.  My experience with her and with the entire team was very positive.  I do not remember a whole lot about the consult, except that she told me what to expect over the next couple of months.  She actually gave me a surgery date right then and there!  She knew what my insurance company required.  She had me talk to her nurse/manager who gave me all the referral forms and stuff that I needed, as well as a fair amount of reading material.   So I left there knowing what I needed to get done before the date.  Part of my insurance requirements was a supervised "interdisciplinary" diet, so I also met with Nancy Lum, the nutritionist.  All-in-all, it probably took about 45 minutes for the consult. I really like Dr. Li.  You will be in great hands.

I am about 4 months out and had my surgery with Dr. Li.  There is quite a bit on my profile about the program - they were wonderful! Best of luck with your venture!!! :)

Thanks to everyone for all of the information.  I am soooo excited that I don't know what to do with myself.  Everything so far is going pretty well so I am waiting for that glitch to occur.
