It's Me

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've checked in here.  I have been pretty crazy lately.  Although, some of you have been hanging out with JoAnn and John, and have probably gotten an idea about how opposite our schedules are.  Anyways, I don't know where to start... I had another round of major back pain, but was able to get another epidural injection.  My orthopedic surgeon says that I'm allowed one more injection this year, and three a year from now on.  If it gets to the point that I need more than that, I will most likely need to have surgery to fuse the three discs.   Speaking of surgery, I'm having my hernia repair on the 5th.  I'm actually kind of looking forward to it, because I'll have a couple of weeks off of work.  Dr. Schweitzer is performing this surgery, and said that I should really only need a week to recover.  I took two, hoping that I could get some other things accomplished before going back to XM.   Work has been hectic.  Basically, I'm working three jobs.  Besides XM, I have been named Asst. Director of Corporate Communications for the Baltimore Blackbirds Indoor Football team (www.baltimoreblackbirdsfootball.com), and I also work with a friend of mine who is a psychic (for lack of a better term) and her son who is a clinical psychologist.  Her name is Mary Jo McCabe, and she was a regular guest on my morning show in New Orleans a few years ago.  I helped develop their radio show that just launched in New Orleans, and I produce their podcast.  You can check that out on her website (www.maryjomccabe.com).  If you listen to the podcast, that's my voice you hear in the introduction.  It's pretty cool stuff.  She has a few books available, and if you know who John Edward is, he wrote the introduction to her latest book. As you can see, I've been keeping busy.  Plus, I went home to New Orleans over the weekend to spend some quality time with my Dad and to see The Police in concert.  They are my all time favorite band, and now I can actually say I've seen them live!  The best part, besides witnessing Stewart Copelands antics behind the drum kit and three Andy Summers guitar solos in the first 6 songs, was that the last time I sat in the seats in the New Orleans Arena I was 425 pounds and went home with bruises from being too big for the seats.    Sorry for rambling, but who knows how long it will be before I make it back on here... Jay

Jay, Good to 'see' you!!!  Sounds like you have been a busy boy indeed.   I'm an XM listener .. does that count?   I'm 'addicted' to XM 12 .. both in the truck and on my DTV in the house . Think our musical tastes are a tad bit different though  ... I'm excited about going to see Tim & Faith this weekend at the Verizon Center. Take care and have a safe & happy 4th. Hugs, Mo

Comparison is the thief of joy!

If we spend our time comparing our life/weight loss/body to others, we totally miss what WE have accomplished.   Keep in mind how far you have come and what you can do now that you couldn't do weeks/months/years ago.   I hate the expression " It's all good", but in this case it fits!   Wherever you are in your journey  ... It's ALL good!!!

Mo, XM is VERY addicting!  My musical tastes vary by the hour, so XM is perfect for me... along with my SIRIUS subscription that came with my car and my 6-disc changer.  All that, and sometimes I still can't decide what to listen to.   I bet Tim & Faith will be a great concert... They are Louisiana folks, so how could I not like them?  Although, I'm more of a Toby fan than a Tim fan. Happy Fourth! Jay

We have XM receivers in both the trucks (and they are portable so we can move them around as necessary) and we got a 6 month subscription to SIRIUS with the new RV.   So far though I've not been impressed with SIRIUS other than the Fred Imus hour on the weekends!   SIRIUS's outlaw country has nothing on XM's cross country. Hugs, Mo p.s.   Toby is another one of my faves too

OMG Jay!  I am SO jealous that you got to see the Police!!!  And WHEN did we get an indoor football team???  I was wondering who that was on your t-shirt when we saw you at Wal-Mart!

Heather, It was great to meet you the other day.  I don't want to rub it in, but the Police were amazing!  I'd definitely go see them again if given the chance.  I think JoAnn was a little jealous too.  This was the first year for the Blackbirds.  We played a short season this year due to our late entrance into the league (AIFA).  It's basically the same as Arena football, and our season is opposite of the NFL season, giving football fans year-round action.

Oh you SO WANTED TO RUB IT IN! hehehe  It's okay, I'll live.  You only saw one of my favorite bands in my absolute favorite city.  I might have to go slit my wrist, but I'll be FINE! hehehe  I'll have to tell Floyd about the Blackbirds, I'm sure he'd love to see them play.   We of course love the Ravens.  So what exactly do you do?  Are you on the radio here?  Floyd and I both have day jobs, but we also own Evening Star Entertainment (DJ/Karaoke/VJ).  Have you and JoAnn been to Raffy's yet on Belair Road in Perry Hall?  Floyd does a karaoke show there on Wed night, 70s/80s VJ night on Friday, and he is at Rockabilly's (over near you guys) every other Thursday doing karaoke.  He also does a lot of Moose lodges, VFWs, American Legions, and a TON of private shows.  We are swamped right now.  Back to Raffy's; great food, great prices.  Maybe try it on a Tuesday night, it's kids night and John would love JoJo the clown-not like the one on tv (and he gets to eat free!  Great mac and cheese).  Are you and JoAnn both patients of Schweitzer?  He's my doc too.  Floyd was banded on 5/18/06 and I was on 9/14/06.

Raffy's sounds like fun!  John loves mac and cheese, but I'm not sure how he would be around JoJo the clown.  We'll have to make plans to go.  And, of course we'll have to check out karaoke night!  I guess you could say I'm on the radio... I'm a traffic reporter on XM.  I do overnight traffic for Houston, Miami, and Pittsburgh.  But, I'm more comfortable behind the scenes.  Before coming to Baltimore, I was a Promotions Director and Morning Show Producer.  Plus, I've been known to "dabble" in the music business.  I had my RNY with Schweitzer on 5/2/06, and JoAnn had hers with Dr. Lavin in New Orleans on 10/10/03.
