Having the worst time with my doc! LONG!

I am frustrated beyond belief with Dr. Moien and the fill process it is totally annoying.  First of all if you have been to GBMC obesity office lately they are short staffed!  Which is apparently trickling down to the patients.  I had my first fill on May 20.  I went back to the doctors office on June 25 thinking that I would be getting my second fill.  Dr Moein tells me that he only usually gives fills once every SIX months.  I asked do you mean once every six weeks?  He said no, every six months.  He said that he would go ahead and be lenient and schedule me in a month.  I was steaming mad when I left because I told him that I was hungry in between meals.  He goes on to tell me that this is not RNY and this was to be expected.   So I leave the office last Monday and they say that they will go ahead and make an appointment for a fill for me with the week and would call me back.  So, I call back yesterday because of course no one has called me back.  I hear the same ol sh*& and they tell me that they are short staffed and would call me back.  Ok so this is when I start to lose it, I could care less about your staffing situation and I need to know when I can expect a call back.  Why does it take a week to make an appointment for a fill?  So I leave a message for the Office Manager Claudia.  She is worse than worse!!!!  She says she apologizes I am trying to explain to her that I have been calling for some time and no one is calling me back.  She goes on to tell me that they are short staffed and that I am not the only patient waiting for an appointment.  So I ask to speak to her manager which is the director of something or other.  I leave him a message and of course no call back from him.  but then Dr. moein calls me back and says that he understands that I was starting trouble earlier.  I go on to explain to him that it shouldn't take a week for me to schedule an appointment for a fill.  he basically says what fill???  WTF Are you kidding me???!!!  He tells me that he did not say that he was going to give me a fill but that he told me to come back to the office to re-evaluate if I am still losing or not.  I try to explain to him that it is very frustrating for me to feel like I am on a diet (which I am basically) and that is the only reason that I am losing weight.  I am sick of feeling hungry all of the time like I feel like I am on a diet and he tells me that is to be expected with the band.  I guess at that point I insulted him because I said that everything he is telling me is so different than what I have read and researched.  He began to tell me that " I am the expert on your band because I am the surgeon that put it in."  I asked him what was even the point of the freaking surgery if I had to do 100% of the work.  He reminds me again that this surgery is not  RNY, which I remind him again that I know.  But why does it have to be such a headache to get a fill.  When I was done talking to him then I came away with the feeling that if I was eating junk and not excercising and not losing weight a fill would be no problem.  But if I am trying to stick to the band rules, exercising 5 days a week and starving in between, i don't get any help from the band.  I am so fed up at this point I started looking into other docs that would be willing to give me fills.  Does anyone have any advise on this!???

Sorry you are going threw this. I have no clue about lap-band but I am sure someone will give you some advice.... I know Dr Sweitzer at John Hopkins Bayview does lap-band. I would call and see if you can ge in with him for fills. Keep us posted and congrats on your weight loss.

HI MY NAME IS MICHELLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR DOC DONT WANT TO TAKE TIME WITH YOU. I HAD THE LAPBAND DONE 1 YEAR AGO. I WENT TO DR BRODY IN DC AT GW. THEY ARE VERY GOOD TO ME. HE DID MY FILLS ONCE A MONTH UNTILL LATLEY HE IS GOING EVERY 6 MONTHES OUT, I HAVE ONLY LOST 35 POUNDS BUT 4 PANTS SIZES. I WISH YOU LUCK IF YOU NEED MORE INFO LET ME NO. MICHELLE

i had the vertical sleeve at sinai but i know that dr li and dr koopman do lap band. i never hve a problem they are also short staffed but they will return your call by the end of the day.

I did call Bayview and I am actually going to be sending a request over to my doctors office to release information to the Bayview center.  The best part about Bayview is that it is only one exit away from me.  I feel like I wished I would have gone there to begin with.

Kali, I am sorry you are having such a tough time with Dr. Moein wow! Have you thought of talking to DVR before switching? I have never had an issue with my dr.  He has been exceptional every single time.  I don't know what is going on with the staff! But I do know that DVR would notbe happy to hear about any of the mess you are going through.  You can even call and ask for Mrs DVR she is awesome and so caring too.   I hope everything irons out for you soon.   Big hugs to you!
