testing done!!!!

Hi all....I finished my testing. this test was probably the worse test I had of all. It was a nuclear stress test. I did not walk on a treadmill but they injected something in me that I think they got the same results as if I was walking a treadmill. I got a lot of pressure in my head and pain down into my legs. It didn't take long though and when he was done the nurse gave me an antidote and it all went away. However, it did leave me with a headache for most of the day. I am starting to get a little nervous about it getting close. I completed my 4th month of supervised diet on the 14th. I am having a really hard time losing any weight which makes me think that I may not get approved. I am having a problem thinking if I don't get approved whether or not I will appeal. I have told myself from the very beginning that if I was denied then that would be my sign for not getting WLS. I always remember the quote "If He gets you to it, He'll get you thru it". I don't know but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I went to DVR's support group last night. did not recognize anyone from this group except maybe Mark. There was a gentleman sitting behind me in front of the window talking about the Maryland OH group...I think. I turned to look but did not know who it was until I checked out Mark's pictures.        Mark.................was that you??????????????? Hope everyone is having a great day because tomorrow is another weekend. Love...Gail

I am still pre op until 17jul.But my diet was horrible. I gained 3 lbs, but I did quit smoking. I told my  surgeons office i was worried. They said it wwas fine. This just shows why I need the surgery. After my diet papers were submitted it took 1 week for approval. Best wishes to you. Keep us updated. It will go by so fast!!!!!!

Hi Island Girl, Just read your post and I'm excited for you.  I live in Baltimore, MD and I'm a newbie as of June 18, 07.  I have my first meeting with Dr. Gandsas at Sinai Hospital on next Wednesday, June 27th.  I'm in the beginning stages and can't wait to get to the point where you are.  I hope I get approved for WLS surgery.   Congratulations for quitting smoking.  That's half the battle.  You will feel so much better as time goes on.  Well, I have to go now but will be talking with you later. cocogirl -

So the 14th of august will be your last weigh in? Is that right? We will be so close in our surgery dates. What testing did you need before hand?  I only needed my phsyc evaluation  and my sleep apnea?

Well I am glad that you are done your testing.  Although I am still pre-opt, I have also completed all of the testing that was required by my doctor.  Because of my insurance, I was not required to do the six month supervised diet, but it seems to be taking forever to get the final approval.  I actually contacted the doctors office to check the status and she said that it is still pending (I guess each insurance company is different).  My endocronologist wanted me to have this done or at least scheduled by my next appointment (6/29) but I am not sure if that is going to happen.  I guess all we can do at this point is wait.

He he he...might have been. And you didn't say hello?  I was only 1 of 4 guys there last night but the meeting was informative and the big thing I took away was what Barry said about not many frowns in the room.  Very kewl your tests are done. Isn't it ironic we have to lose weight to get the surgery we need to lose weight? Hope we see each other again, Mark

I think one of the main reasons for making us go through the 6 months of diet suprvision is to make sure we can be compliant with a program. I never lost any weight. In fact, I gained. Here I am 8 1/2 months out from the best decision of my life.  You will make it Gail.

You are going to do great and I gained throughout my supervised visit too and here I am today... Thanking God for tbis wonderful tool.

GAIL:  i ONLY MANAGED TO LOSE ABOUT 6 LBS. DURING THE SIX MONTHS; NO ONE SAID A WORD ABOUT IT NOT BIEING ENOUGH;  I HAVE SINCE LOST ANOTHER 4 LBS.  I WOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT NOT LOSING A LOT OF WEIGHT.  LIKE I AND MANY OTHERS

HAVE SAID ;  IF WE COULD LOSE WEIGHT WE WOULD NOT PUT OURSELVES THRU ALL THIS.
