Protein Daily
I start every morning with a Unjury chocolate coffee shake with 4 oz. of skim milk and 1 splenda that gives me 25 grams of protein and the rest of the day I use food (cottage cheese, cheese meat or seafood). For me if I did not do the shake I would never get it all in and stay under my allowed calories. The Unjury is the only protein that does not gag me but you must order it online.

My surgeon subscribes to the 2 protein shakes / day for life plan! I do a reasonable job of getting two per day Monday - Friday but not so good on the weekends!!! The shakes are in addition to a protein rich/low carb/low fat solid food plan.
I mix up my shakes in the morning using 2 cups of ice water, a heaping table spoon of decaf instant coffee, a shot of SF DaVinci syrup (either hazel nut or kahlua flavor), a scoop of vanilla protein powder ( I use EAS Whey that I buy in bulk at Sam's club), a heaping tablespoon of non-dairy creamer (I guess you could use powdered milk, but the ND creamer adds a 'creami-ness to the shake), and 3 equal packets. I shake it all together with a cup of crushed ice or cubs in a ziplock screw on cap container and toss the shake in my bag to carry to work. When I get to work, I shake it up, unscrew the cap and sip it. Any thing that didn't disolve immediately upon shaking has generally all disolved by the time I get to work. The second shake gets shaken up and placed in the fridge so it's ready for me when I get home. I give it a few shakes and put it over ice and drink it when I get home.
With the shakes I know that I am getting at least 40 to 45 grams of protein daily. I also use the south beach cereal bars (140 cal/10 grams for snacks periodically.
Lunch is usually a salad with a combination of chicken /cheeses /bacon bits that is 20 to 30 grams of protein.
Dinner is usually gives me another 20 to 30 grams of protein, depending on what it is and the quantity I am able to eat.
I am over 3 years out maintaining a 100 pound loss, but would like to lose another 30 to 50 pounds.
Best wishes as your WLS journey continues.
My nut suggests the best protein is whey protein isolate if you're going to to shakes.
I've tried Unjury and theirs are ok.
I went to GNC a couple months ago though and they sell a vat (i kid you not a vat) of what's called "MEGA ISOLATE" that has 25 grms whey protein per scoop.
They were having a sale luckily. The vat is a little pricey but when you look at the amount of servings it has in it, It's actually cheaper than unjury.
I do drink the protein occasionally but i also add it to SF/FF puddings or a small container of yogurt.
The GNC powder isn't really much different than Unjury's taste.

I live & swear by "Nectar" protein powder is 23grams of protein per serv. I love the Lemon Iced Tea" they have several other flavors, but I love the ice tea, Tastes like lipton ice tea, powder in the can? Taste just like it. My nutriutionist okayed the calories intake. No Carbs. It was my life saver, because you need that protein to survive & heal properly!! I buy it from the Vitimin Shoppe. $30 for a little over 2lbs. It's totally worth it to me. At least try it? and let me know what you think? Good Luck to you!! on Protein journey!! Foods: Chicken, salmon, fish, turkey cheese, yourgurt, string cheese, eggs.
Peace. jbug.

I love the Nectar Strawberry Kiwi and Twisted Cherry shakes. I make them with water & ice cubes in my tupperware shaker. I know some folks like to mix them with other stuff, bu****er works fine for me. I dont really care for the "milky" protein shakes in general.
I have a shake before going to curves in the morning. And sometimes when I get back too, when I am getting ready for work.
For a special treat, I have an Achiev One RTD drink. They are a bit expensive, but I love to take them to work and have mid-morning.
I always pack my lunch box with protein rich stuff like a half peanut butter sandwich (with SF jelly), LF string cheese, SF/FF yogurt.
To mix things up a bit (pun intended), I make SF pudding with a couple of scoops of protein powder (generally matrix cookies n cream). Add the protein powder to the milk first, mix it up well, then add the pudding mix.
I also have a protein bar occasionally -- have to watch myself because I could sit down and eat a whole box at a time if my pouch would let me. I really like the Oh Yeah wafer bars that I get at Vitamin Shoppe. And I make my own peanut butter protein balls (see the recipe forum).
Other special treat: Protein cocoa (check the web sites -- i like diet high proten raspberry cocoa) mixed with decaf for a great warm drink.
I use protein shakes too, not every day but most days I have one for breakfast on my way to work. I also eat Pure Protein bars sometimes but gotta watch the fancy flavors cuz while they are great on protein and low on sugar, they are high in calories! I eat mostly tuna, other fish, chicken and turkey and sometimes beef,
