Real Gym vs Curves
I love my Curves and have been going there for about 2 years off and on and steadily since my surgery but I just have been feeling that I have out grown the workout and needed something more challenging (****y me). So I join another gym on Monday and went for my first workout with a personal trainer and OMG every muscle in my body is throbbing, this young lady maybe 22 or 23 just about killed this old lady and I am supposed to go again tonight, maybe I should keep my old butt at Curves LOL.....I am loving my Curves more and more!!

LOL...I think it might be the trainer and not the club!
Back when I used to play organized football, I was told that muscle fatigue is a good thing...muscle pain is not.
When I started with Brick Bodies, about 3 months ago, I was assigned to a trainer to get my workouts. They had never really worked with a WLS patient before so there was some trial and error. But the one thing she kept stressing was that I should not be sore the next morning. I might be weak or tired, but not sore.
So far, the only time I have been sore after a workout, was when I either over did it or did something wrong. What I really like is that I have seen great progress with the weights and the cardio, without any real soreness.
Oh well...I also had a trainer, playing college football, that believed if you were not sore then you did not work hard enough! LOL guess it just depends on the trainer! (isn't that how I started this post!)

Although I have not had my WLS yet, I started out at Curves a few years ago and have since joined another gym. As you get stronger as your fitness level changes and it seems that your body was use to the Curves rorutine. When I was a member of Curves I was doing the circut 2-3 times per workout just to feel like I was working out. Now I am taking cycling classes 3 times per week plus lifting weights 3 times per week. Just hang in there and your body will get use to the new workout plan.
Stephanie, I also was a member at Curves. Loved it, but after a year, felt bored and as if I was not getting a great workout. I would love to join a gym! Just don't know about the travel time involved. Our choices are either over the bridge into St. Mary's, or up Rt. 4. Which one did you opt for? Keep us updated on your workouts and changes. Enjoy!!!

Hi Traci,
I joined Total Fitness for Women in Prince Frederick right behind the McDonalds, I was already doing Curves in Prince Frederick because I drive through there on my way home from work every day and it is just easy to stop there for me. Also, the price was fairly cheap, and they have the equipment, trainers, different arobic classes (kickboxing, step, belly dancing ..lol), they have a locker room, showers, tanning bed, hot tub and babysitting for $39.00 a month, I pay $29.00 a month for Curves. And also they are open 7 days a week from 6 am until 9 pm and it's all women which is important to me. Hope this helps.
