Well since my weight is not coming off like it should I'm gonna try the new ALLI that was approved by FDA.  Does anyone want to give me any good advice or if I shouldn't do it?

My first step would be to check with Dr. Gandsas and Nancy to see what they think.    I am guessing from the pics in your profile, you had RNY.   You might want to check with the company and with Sinai as to how effective the new pill will be.   Many of the weighloss pills just won't work once you have this surgery (although many don't work before either!)  :-) It also looks like this pill is not being touted as any sort of miracle.   It just increases your weight loss as long as you are dieting anyway. The advertising said nothing about excercise.  It only mentioned that it would increase weightloss by 50% than with dieting alone.    Then they go on to give an example...if you would lose 10 lbs via dieting then you would lose 15lbs with this medication.    Wouldn't exercise do the same thing? Just be careful.   I was one of the early ones ont he Fen Phen band wagon.   Thankfully, I did not like the way it made me feel so I discontinued it within about 2 months.   Even with FDA approval, they don't always know how the masses will do with it.    Best of luck and I hope things turn around for you shortly.

Well...I am only 3 mos out from surgery.  In fact I had my 3 month appt yesterday. I have hit very small plateaus, but nothing that has lasted more than a week or two.   I started, officially (on the day of the surgery) at 318.   Yesterday I was 237...so 81 down in 3 months.    He actually told me to slow down a bit.   He does not want me to blow right through my goal weight and then have trouble with being too light. The only reason for the advice is that I have been doing some reading on supplements and the topic of diet pills after weight loss surgery kept coming up in stuff.   If you google it you will probably find some of the same stuff.   There is a lot of talk that the pills just don't work the same on post op patients.   There have also been some scares about adverse reactions...but most of those were rumors and not hard facts. Hope things get better for you.   Looks like you are at a difficult point!

Just a lil info about your diet pill. And you are taking alot of meds that make your weight stay. I had a one pound increase but after changing some stuff(juice intake and more moving around) turned around and lost 11 pounds. So think about what small things you can do different frist. I agree with Dave ont he phen fen, I tried that too and gained the weight back, go figure. The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug product orlistat 60 mg capsule (trade name alli) on February 7, 2007, for over-the-counter marketing as a weight loss aid. Alli is to be used only in conjunction with a weight loss program that includes a reduced calorie diet, a low fat diet, and an exercise program. It is approved for use in adults 18 years and older. A multivitamin should be taken every day when alli is used as part of a weight loss program.

What does your surgeon say about your weight loss? I would go to them first.
