Sheppherd Pratt Eating Disorders Program?

Someone close to me has a really bad eating disorder that needs to be treated. That person is an adolescent and as we all know there isn't much out there in the way of treatment for kids. I've found the Shepperd Pratt Eating Disorders Clinic but i was wondering if there's anyone here who has been or knows someone who was treated there in or out patient and if they were impressed with the program. Any help would be appreciated....  Private responses ok.  Thanks, K 

All I have heard is that Sheppard Pratt is a really good hospital in general, so if she would go anywhere I think that would be a good place. That is word of mouth though, but I have only heard good things.

My son at 16 years old 6 ft 2 inches weighed 134lbs. We took him there. It was  a heart  breaking thing to have to do. But I was very impressed. He is 17 1/2 yrs now and doing wonderful. He had a problem, but would never admit it. I thought the program was worth every minute of the day. Good luck

Unfortunately ...our situation is quite the opposite...She's 14 and 5-9" and around 234.  She just can't keep eating and screams and throws fits when you won't give her more... It's not just sweets or junk either. She'll eat whole loaves of bread, jars of peanutbutter, Whole boxes of things. We've even seen her with candy from a dumpster once..... I'm trying to save her from being that 400 lb kid in HS (HSwas never kind to me and i never weighed over 200 back then so to see her gaining so much at an early age scares the bejesus out of me.)  I'm doing my best just to help myself right now and with the added stress of her. It's just too much. Somethings gotta give.  I'm thinking a couple weeks away (as harsh as it sounds) will be good for her.

I am so sorry. I know just how you feel. I had to watch my sons evry move. I had to even listen at the bathroom door to make sure he wasnt purging.  It was the must  horrible 2 years of my life.
